Overview & Reviews
Nissan launched its upscale Infiniti division in 1989 with two unique models and a polarizing ad campaign. More than two decades later, Infiniti continues to blaze its own trail in pursuit of luxury, performance and style. The Infiniti G37 sport coupe, sedan and convertible are prime examples of this corporate philosophy. Blessed with a split personality, the rear-wheel-drive G37 will deliver you to work in luxury during the week and then clip apexes all weekend without breaking a sweat.
The list of luxury sport coupes and sedans is typically dominated by elite Teutonic nameplates. In readying the G37, Infiniti honed it on test circuits throughout Europe, including Germany's famed Nürburgring. This athletic chassis, along with the G's attractive sticker price, distinctive interior appointments and ample array of technology, makes it well prepared for battle in this class.
Used Infiniti G37 Models
The Infiniti G37 was first introduced as a coupe for 2008, with the convertible arriving the following year. Technically, the G37 sedan arrived for 2009 as well, but it was really the same vehicle as the second-generation G35 sedan that arrived for '07, albeit with a larger 3.7-liter V6. Confused yet? It gets worse. For 2011, Infiniti officially broke these cars apart into separate models, so for information on a new G, please read the Infiniti G Sedan review, Infiniti G Coupe review and Infiniti G Convertible review.
Used Infiniti G37 models are available in coupe, sedan or convertible body styles, with four possible trim levels: base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible was only offered in base or Sport 6MT trim, though. For 2010, a special range-topping Anniversary model added features that included navigation, an upgraded Bose audio system, iPod connectivity and ventilated seats (for the convertible only).
In addition to the long list of standard features packaged with each trim level, several options, including the Anniversary add-ons were available à la carte. Adaptive cruise control will alleviate some fatigue on long trips, while the available Sport package (standard on the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey) will rouse the interest of more aggressive drivers thanks to features like a limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and brakes, sport seats and bigger wheels.
A four-wheel active steer system (4WAS) was available for those obsessed with pushing the technological envelope, but reactions were mixed, with several drivers noting diminished steering feedback in vehicles equipped with 4WAS. It was eliminated after 2009. Stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags can be found on all used Infiniti G37s, and a pre-collision preparation feature was optional.
During these years, the G37's 3.7-liter V6 produced a very healthy 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, fed to either the rear wheels or all four (G37x). In base, Journey and G37x trims, the G37 came with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters, while the Sport 6MT featured a six-speed manual. Both transmissions have their devotees, but the clutch take-up in the manual is a little too abrupt. Acceleration and mileage numbers are comparable between the automatic and manual, so the choice is a matter of personal preference.
A used G37 from these years offered user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter highlighted by such items as the car's leather-accented magnesium transmission paddle shifters and attractive interior trim. The front seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, and the available sport-styled seats offer even more aggressive bolstering, though they may be a bit too snug for larger drivers. Both the sedan and coupe feel like sports cars wrapped in a luxury car package, but the coupe, with seats that are mounted slightly lower than the sedan's, feels a bit racier. We're less enamored with the convertible, as it's less refined and practical than its competitors from those years.
Overall, the Infiniti G37 stands shoulder to shoulder with all its contemporary rivals in the entry-level luxury segment. Used car consumers in the market for such a vehicle would be wise to put it at the top of their to-drive list.

Great Sports Coupe, Needs to Lose Weight - 2008 Infiniti G37
By M.C. - September 9 - 9:33 pmI enjoy my G37 S 6-speed. It has every option except nav and Tech. pkg. I dont agree that this car is fast, its quick, but not fast. If this car can drop 200 lbs and add 35 pounds of torque, it would be in the BMW 335ci class as far as being quicker. Without the torque, I would say this car is a touch behind BMW in the performance area, but it makes up for it by being less expensive and I would say more reliable than the BMW. Infiniti has come a long way since my 2003 G35 coupe. If you are looking for a good looking coupe for around $40k, this car is hard to beat.

Excellent sport car - 2009 Infiniti G37
By High Performer - September 4 - 10:30 pmThis is a high quality, luxury sports car. The exhaust sound is great. There is plenty of power. The transmission is sometimes getting confused in the lower rpm. This car needs high pushing than it comes to life. Very sexy interior, and exterior. Lots of electronic gadgets. I have premium package with nav and bose sound system. Everything works perfect. Very good sound system and navigation is one of the best in its class.

G37X Will Not Disappoint - 2009 Infiniti G37
By maynard_marc - August 24 - 7:56 pmJust took delivery on an 09 blue slate off the lot and drove it home last week. What a machine. I traded in an 04 Honda Accord V6 for this and could not be happier. Still waiting to see how the mileage shakes out, but I really do not anticipate a car like this getting 25 MPG, more like 20-22. I was worried about the back seat being too small for my family. I have two young boys, only one in a booster seat and there is room for both of them and an adult if need be. This would not be practical for the main family car, but it is a great second car and one that will turn heads.

G37 2008 - 2008 Infiniti G37
By OoohYeeaah - August 1 - 11:00 pmHave 5K miles and love the car. Hard to see well with the mirrors. Have a big dent in the cool looking aluminum inside door handle where seatbelt flung back and tagged it. Goes fast enough for me. Happy with it. Got a speeding ticket my first month and I wasnt even speeding. Cop had new Dodge Charger interceptor. My first sports car. Wheels get caught in ruts in interstate, and have to constantly readjust when driving. Moving GPS map is very helpful. Cell phone to car interface is way cool, so easy to use. My teenager kids love it too. Dont like speedometer, missing many in between numbers.

G37XS - 2009 Infiniti G37
By wmck69 - July 31 - 7:30 amI must have looked at 20-30 different cars makes and models (Lexus, BMW, Acura) and after 4 months of looking and test drving (and reading all the user review), this was by far the best choice ever made. I wanted the best 4-dr sports car and didnt want to pay the BWM price tag for the same performance and repairs are insane for you BMW owners. It is tight, extremely smooth, its my little red ferrari. So glad I got the "S" model. The 18" wheels and paddle shifters are awesome.

Inexpensive Exotic - 2008 Infiniti G37
By diznum - July 10 - 3:56 amI bought this car to replace my G35 Coupe, that car was totaled. This car rides sooo much better, the old car had the sport suspension and all of the bells and whistles as does the G37, I ordered a fully optioned G37 Journey with all of the packages. I checked the Beemers and was not impressed at all, their dealer experience leaves much desired. Also considered the Subaru WRX Sti, too much $$ for a souped up econobox. Ive only put about 3600 miles on her, but every time I take it out I love the car more and more. The remark about the rear seat being cramped is wrong except for maybe head room. Overall fantastic car that looks more exotic and expensive than it really is!

Love This Car - 2009 Infiniti G37
By RLB - July 8 - 4:16 amWhat a fun car. Sexy lines, smooth and powerful. Got Pacific Sky with Stone. Base, prem, navi, chrome sport package wheels, rear deflector. Researched for a year, waiting on latest models. For us the Infiniti beat out the BMWs, Lexus was no comparison, 370Z, and MB. Also, really wanted a hard top for all weather and noise reduction. Have had trouble with the seat belts getting caught by the door but unbuckled them from the leather strap on the seat to let them retrac all the way. Pain reaching back for it but better. Planning a 2k mile trip first of Spring, cant wait to pop the top and go.

Almost Perfect for the Price - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Jaymez56 - May 9 - 12:50 pmDownsized from a GS350 and I must say, this is a 9/10ths Lexus. Great interior (really comfy seats)...has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a $40k car. I am really surprised by the great navi and music hard drive. Car corners very flat, especially for a sedan and the power is instantaneous. I have noticed an on again/off again rattle in the passenger door after only 3K miles. I have owned every luxury German and Japanese make there is and I must say Infiniti is becoming my favorite due to its blend of near BMW agility, near Lexus comfort, and near Mercedes luxury for typically a lot less than those makes. Good mileage so far too, 22mpg combined.

Best High Performance vehicle Ever! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By kaih23 - May 4 - 12:10 amThis is my first infiniti and I did lots of research, comparing it to Acura TL, Lexus IS, Lexus ES, BMW 3- series, and Mercedes C class. I went and test drove them all and the best overall is my new infiniti G37XS. It gives me power whenever I need it, excellent sporty ride, very luxurious feel inside, and handles very well on ice and snow. On top of all this, it is Japanese made, built to last.
