  • Fun and fast - but whats that noise? - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

Unique styling and great fun to drive. Bought new almost three years ago as a mid-life crisis car, and it has been an excellent value for the money. The combination of the vehicle weight, powertrain, and suspension system is fabulous, especially when you compare it to cars in its class that cost many thousands of dollars more. I am about to take it in (less than 28,000 miles now) to see what the dealer has to say about a strange "clacking" noise that seems to be emanating from between the dash and the windshield on the drivers side on bumpy pavement. In sum, if Hyundai can build these things just a little tighter, Id certainly buy another "Tib."

I owned an 84 Camaro and as I was sitting in the shop, I saw a magazine and was reading it and they had an article about the new Tiburon and I saw it and decided that I had to get it. I went to the dealership didnt test drive it, didnt argue over the price and got it. Its been a lot of fun it. I just had a cold air intake and cat back exhaust added to it and this thing really picks up. I was able to beat a turboed Eclipse with it. By the way, I am 56" so I fit in it nice and snug. I had a friend drive it and he said it "drove like a dream." This car is purely amazing and a heck of a lot of fun to drive.

Why pay 7 or 8 grand more for less was the conclusion I came to 3 years ago when I purchased my new Tiburon. At the time I was also considering the Celica and RSX which were more pricey and were base models. My Hyundai is fully loaded and unlike the others, has leather, power sunroof, full power group, nice rims, dual exhaust and quite simply is very easy on the eyes. Since then, my gf has bought a new RSX Premium(9000 more) and I still say, my Tiburon is better. I have had zero problems and even if I did, Hyundais warranty is amazing anyways. I drive it hard and it produces great performance and handling that is out of the league of other cars in its price range. Great car!!!

I got the tib in the summer, and its doing great, i have over 11,000 miles on it (using it to commute) and its consistantly had great milage and no performance problems. Only complaint is that there is a lot of road noise, but the stereo upgrade drowns that out. Great city car, easy to park, lots of pep when you need it.

  • LOVE THIS CAR - 2004 Hyundai Tiburon

I traded-in a 1998 Jaguar XJR for this car. The Jag experience was awful. This car on the other hand, has been a joy. I still love to drive it after a year of ownership. It looks great. It drives great. For the money you can not go wrong. I added some aluminum trim rings to the round dash vents and fuel/temp guage to brighten-up the dark interior. One thing that bugs is first gear. Cant get enough traction. Limited-slip diff would make a big improvement.

So far, this vehicle has exceeded my expectations in most every way. With 27,000 miles on it already, I have had no problems to speak of. Performance is great (for the price); regularly tempting me to peel the tires and redline at every stop light or onramp.

I just had to trade in 3 months old Honda Civic to get this baby. My Tiburon matches all of my wishes.

Ive owned my vehicle for over 2 years now and havent had any problems. I did just have to take it in to get the fuel canister fixed but it was all covered under warranty and was no problem. Ive driven the car a lot, almost 40,000 miles, and Im a hard driver (quick starts, fast stops, sharp turns). Ive loved every minute of driving this car and while the blindspots are difficult, you do get used to them. Ive recommended this car to others looking for something thats a lot of fun, but reasonably priced.
