  • Heed my warning! I love this car, but... - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
    By -

I love this car; the style, the way it sits on the road, handles the corners. Unfortunately for me I found out after the fact that Hyundai has some major transmission problems. I bought it at 33,000 miles as the 2nd owner and had a 60,000m warranty. The tranmission started acting up not too long after; losing 1st gear, not shifting out of 2nd gear unless you shut the car off. Hyundai said they couldnt find a thing wrong, until my warranty expired. Less than 2,000 later, they tell me I need a new tranmission. To the tune of $1,700. Now, just 1 1/2yrs, Im getting rid of it b/c its doing the same exact thing it did before the rebuild. Love the car but, please learn from my bad experience.

  • YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! - 2004 Hyundai Tiburon

I wanted a tiby more than anything! I bought it 11 months ago with 30,000 & I have put 18,000 miles on it so far. I have gone through 3 clutches!!!!!!!! Yes, 3 clutches! This is the worse clutch, fly wheel & pressure plate quality I have ever seen. There is no way you can go through 3 clutches in 18,000 miles. I have driven clutches my untire life. I have paid $700 for each clutch. This is the bigest peice of junk I have ever had. I like the looks & style, but that is no good if it doesnt run!!!! now I cant stand foriegn cars!!! I wish I would have bought a Mustang!! And I will be trading this peice of junk in for an AMERICAN MUSCLE!!!!! PS-----DONT BUY THE TIBBY----HORRIBLE CLUTCH!!!

What first attracted me to the car was its looks. This thing looks like a mini Ferrari 356. Its hard to believe it was designed in Korea, and not Italy or southern California. I rolled off the lot - tax, tags and title for $20,300. Not bad for a car with every bell and whistle you can think of!

  • Love looks, could be built better - 2007 Hyundai Tiburon

The car looks awesome, but I have had problems with it. First off it has rust spots on the hood and Hyundai said they are not responsible for it.Poor paint job. A year in a half into owning it, the clutch went out on me. The dealer asked me if it was my first stick shift car and I told him NO!!He then proceeded to tell me that I must not be driving it right and that I must be riding the clutch too much. I learned how to drive on a manual! It only had a lil less then 15,000 miles on it. After I talked to my mechanic and he told me there was no way that I ruined the clutch and the fly wheel and I informed the dealer of the poor reviews on the clutch, I got it fixed under warranty.

  • Bang for buck - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

Overall its a great car, it has its short commings. Decent performance, supportive seats, takes regular gas, looks awesome. Handling is only so-so, big blind spots due to small rear windows, cargo area smallish. But cant beat the price and warranty you get this for. Fun to drive, but eventually it wears off. The handling just isnt there, it needs to lose a few 100 lbs. Better than a Scion tC.

I bought my tiburon about 3 years ago it has yet to let me sit. however the only proublems i have had with the car is the breaks. i had to put a new master cylender new calipers all new break lines and hoses and a new break booster. other than that the car has been good to me it runs great and has 123000k miles on it. however i dont think i would see my sefl buying another one

  • Very Reliable - 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

At 3 years this car has proven to be extremely reliable with excellent fuel economy. With 2 years of bumper to bumper coverage and roadside assistance, and 7 years of powertrain coverage left I feel I made an excellent choice.

Great performance. Handles well. Best sports car for the price. So far no major issues with the car. Smaller issues with radio, sunroof were immediately handled under the warranty.

  • UNKNOWN AT PURCHASE - 2004 Hyundai Tiburon

I loved my Tiburon until this week. While getting ready for vacation I took the vehicle to my mechanic for an oil change. He noted there was wear on the rear passenger tire and suggested that I replace the tire before the trip. I contacted the place where I had purchased the tires a year ago and was told that the car was out of alignment in the rear and so I had the alignment done and purchased a new tire only to find out that these vehicles DO NOT have an adjustment feature. Now I must buy an after market adjustment kit which will cost me about $250 so that my tires will not continue to wear. It was very disappointing to find this out. I believe I will be looking for another vehicle.

  • Check engine light blues. - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon
    By -

Having purchased a new 2003 Tiberon SE from a dealership in Canada, and being told that this was "a very reliable vehicle", I now question this sound- bite. In the three months I have owned it the check engine light has come on a stagering 7 TIMES!! aaaand each time a defect was found with a system. I have also Had to have it in on 3 seperate occasions to fix a broken sunroof. So far the dealership and Hyundai are onering the warrenty and fixing the problems, currently they have my car for extended testing to find root cause of the problem. Whilst I have no complaints about the service I am recieving I wonder if anyone else is having this problem.
