People are constantly poking fun at my "hyundai"! But it is by far the step child of sport compacts and the moxt under estimated, it handles just as weel if not better than its competitors and on it "on days" it can out accelerate any sport compact with equivalent performace talking about the motor... Its seems a little temperamental at times depending on weather and road conditions, it may not perform as well but still thrills me every time I hit the accelerator and throw it through a hard curve!

The base manual 4 cylinder Tiburon is not recommended by me. The engines idle stays very high, (around 2-3,000 RPM) and makes for a horrible shift, while wearing out the clutch. My Tiburon has 7,500 miles and the clutch is starting to shatter. I once timed how long it took for it to idle down while coasting, exceeded 30 seconds, only stopping because i came to a complete stop. Hyundai made it clear that they will not help in any way because thats how they say they designed it. I would like to have known that before i bought it!! I did drive one prior to this purchase which did NOT perform the same way. Basically Hyundai is not standing behind this vehicle!!!

I love it. Just wish it had better noise suppression. Lots of road noise. Thinking now that it may be the result of a problem in the rear axle. Good fuel economy. Fantastic looks!

  • Very Fun, Needs MORE POWER - 2004 Hyundai Tiburon

I bought my 04 Tiburon 4cyl in September of 2012 with 100k on it, That was a year ago. Overall it is a decent car and VERY fun to drive, I just wish it had more power. I live in NY and this car did better in the snow than I thought it would (Hankook S1 Noble2 tires are awesome). The seats are Very uncomfortable and the back seat is almost pointless.

  • Dont buy it, its not worth it!! - 2001 Hyundai Tiburon

This being my first car was nice when I got it. There were a couple things wrong but nothing big. After I had it for 3 months it needed new tires, new headlights and new taillights. It had about 40,000 miles on it when I got it and it now has 90,000 in the time that I have had it I put around $3,000 into it. Now it needs new belts, a new transmission, a new motor for the window because it never goes up once you get it down all the way. Once you start the car it doesnt stop squeaking. I have kept up with all of the usual maintenance and gotten tune ups when needed but it still runs like crap. The tilt steering wheel takes a lot of pressure to get it to move.

The car is a surpirse and a blessing from Hyundai after the last Tiburon. The previous model was ugly, underpowered and worthless.

I waited years for a car like this that I could afford without breaking the bank.

  • fun!! fun!! fun!! - 2004 Hyundai Tiburon

Brand New so not alot of behind the wheel time yet. I do love the way this car feels. It is very comfortable and feels solid around you. Not cheap feeling at all. I actually test drove 3 tib models and 3 Jetta models. I preferred the tib for handeling, smoother clutch... the Jetta clutch was "springy", less road noise and a much sportier look and feel...intimate. LOVE my "just for fun car!"

I am the second owner of my Tib, and it has been a pretty decent car in all respects. The V6 is still sharp after all of these years and Ive been able to keep the car in good shape with relative little expense. With good attention to vehicle care, the factory leather and interior still look outstanding. Reliability is worth considering if you look at a used Tib - sensor quality is low and many are prone to failure. The clutch is also known for premature failure in Tibs - my car is on #3 in 110k. Modification of the clutch slave delay valve can improve clutch performance. In spite of all of that, I find the car relatively easy to work on and fun to own! Great value overall!
