Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

Bought used, previous rental car. Havent ever had a problem with it. It has always been super reliable. We over paid at the dealer, but it was our first "new car". We had no idea of what we were doing. It fits our family of four perfectly. But our kids are getting bigger,so we will be looking for something bigger now. Mini Van.

  • Honda who? - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

My wife had her 2007 Honda CR-V for almost 10 years and 140,000 miles and loved it. It never gave us a day of trouble--not one--and she didnt even mind that it was loud and rough and crude. Based on this, I assumed that when it was time to upgrade, shed go with the car she felt comfortable with. Nope. She drove a new 2016 CR-V and was pretty surprised that it hadnt evolved at all. In a field of competitors, Honda had done nearly nothing to improve on a car that has fallen further and further behind. Im shocked that it remains a top pick for small SUVs. I chose a few cars for her to sample. She really liked the Subaru Outback and the Hyundai Santa Fe, but then she drove this and fell in love. Its got a taut but smooth ride, a comfortable and quiet ride, great safety features, easy-to-use technology, and its kind of gorgeous. Theres a LOT here to love. My only complaint (it doesnt bother her at all) is that transmission everyone is talking about. By all accounts the problem is much worse on the base model, but even here on the top-line Limited its odd. The transmission doesnt know what to do in certain circumstances, and feels unsettled until it gets it legs under it. It does concern me, but the 100k warranty soothes my brow a bit. All in all, its a pretty great if imperfect car, and I was unable to find a better value anywhere.

  • Rattle and Shake - 2010 Hyundai TUCSON

I loved my car from day one. It never got the gas mileage they swear by, but I still loved it. I purchased it May 2010 and ran the A/C all summer with no problems. After 10 months, the entire car would shake and rattle when the A/C was on. It was like nothing I had ever felt. I had to take it 3 times before they would finally speak to the factory rep. After 5 days, they finally determined the A/C condenser was warped. Its still in the shop today.

  • Bought it 4 safety and glad I did - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

Bought 06 Tuscon for daughters 1st vehicle. Was captured by the amount of standard safety features packed into vehicle along with crash ratings for the price. Build quality was good, sound system good, original tires did not last, gas mileage not the greatest but she is a heavy vehicle so what do you expect. We found 4 cylinder unimpressive and went with the 6. Ride was good, plenty of space for my college bound daughter and she felt good in it. Last Saturday evening boyfriend was driving and he fell asleep at wheel with my daughter sleeping next to him. They hit a concrete wall at 35 MPH. Front end of vehicle demolished and they essentially walked away from a potentially lethal crash.

  • My 2005 Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

From the actual purchase experience to taking the vehicle home and owning it for a few days has been extremely satisfying. The dealer was upfront about everything and gave me a really great deal considering its a new model. It drives great, feels much more expensive than it is. (I can say that my opinion is educated considering my previous car I traded-in was a late model Toyota Camry.) When you go down the very long list of standard features, you see just how much of a superb value this SUV is compared to the others SUVs. I was particularly dissapointed with the Nissan X-Trail (not yet available in US). The Tucson was smoother, more roomy and had a much better ride. Way to go Hyundai!

  • Great vehicle - 2008 Hyundai TUCSON

When I decided I no longer needed a pickup, I looked at RAV4 and CRV, but chose the Hyundai because of price and warranty. I no longer consider American-made cars. The Tucson is roomy, comfortable, handles well, and has great visibility. The 4c engine seems noisy and underpowered to me compared to my wifes 4c Accord, but I no longer need those features. I did expect better gas mileage than 24 mpg, but that may improve. One bad feature is the light-colored interior, which is hard to keep clean. Did not think of that when I bought. I always felt that home carpets and car interiors should be a dark color, as people tend to walk on them. Seatcovers and mats help.
