Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

Love it. The only problem I have is not getting the fuel economy I thought I would. Get 22 pretty consistently. Wanted 25 or more for highway. other than that, its been great for as little as Ive had it.

  • It would be exceptional other than one thing - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

Overall its a great CUV. Performs brilliantly in the snow which is why I got it. The one gripe which is a big gripe and you can see it peppered through the other reviews, is that the tranmission, the dual clutch is jerky and confused and feels like the clutch is slipping in very low speeds (1-10 mph). I had a VW dual clutch before this car, and from my understanding former VW engineers built this car which was a big selling point, but the VW dual clutch doesnt have this issue and its incredibly awkward in slow moving traffic. It would have been a 10 out of 10 if they just got this right, and I think a proper software revision would fix it. Hope to god they do.

I drove a bunch of different SUVs in this price category. My impressions: Honda CRV - Nice car but under powered. Would have bought this if it came in a 6 cyl. or turbo. Mazda MX-5 Also nice but rather austere and plain. Ford Escape - Very nice styling, good power, busy instrumentation and a bit too close and crowded in the front seat. Hundai Santa Fe - unimpressed, also under-powered based on the non turbo version I drove. Hundai Tucson Ltd 1.6 with turbo engine....Goldie Locks - everything felt just right. Nice styling, nice ride. Very impressed with the 1.6 turbo engine and the vehicles acceleration. Turbos sometimes take a little getting used to. Instrumentation is clear and not cluttered. Sporty feel with very good brakes. Cabin feels larger than the competitors. Lots of technology bells and whistles. This year 2016 is a new re-design. I have the vehicle a short time, so I cant attest to its reliability. However, Hundai offers one of the best vehicle warantees in the business. So far, I have been very pleased with the vehicle.

  • Im practical and I Like It! - 2007 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive only owned it for a short time, but its got me hooked. I traded my 2002 RAV4 for it, and I have no regrets. (I did like my RAV, so this is not meant to denigrate that wonderful car.) My insurance was about $3 different, and I absolutely love the color. (I chose Alpine Frost, which looked dark in the book, but is rather light and wont show dirt easily.) Im so glad there was something other than silver available. The V6 moves. After my little 4-cylinder, the power took some getting used to -- unless I wanted my first ticket! The Tucson is comfortable, versatile, and looks good. Ill write again after Ive had it for a while...

  • It is a nice fit - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

The Tucson is a nice fit for a small family. Has plenty of leg room, head room and storage for everyone. Performance wise I find that it has been somewhat difficult to start and stay running. It just doesnt want to start some days and acts like its flooded. This is the only problem Ive had. Otherwise it has been great.

  • Much More Than You Think - 2006 Hyundai TUCSON

To be quite honest, I didnt want it. My eyes were on the Santa Fe. However, after a test drive, I was hooked. The ride was smooth and the handling suprised me. Not to mention though the interior is quite basic, the seats are extremely comfortable and the inside is put together quite well (durable). If finances are your main concern, the Tucson by far is the best bang for your buck! No other SUV at similar pricing is loaded with all the safety features the Tucson has and is backed by the #1 warranty in America! If I havent sold you on it, take a drive for yourself.

  • Updated 05 Tucson GLS review - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Ive had the Tuc for a year and 7 months/18,500 miles now. I do like the car overall. The main problem is GAS MILEAGE. Check a few Tucson forums and you will find this is a major complaint. I get about 14mpg city! That is unacceptable. Hyundai has to address this, there IS a problem. Ive also had a couple problems(A/C system almost caught fire) that required dealer attention. Other than this, I really enjoy the Tucson. Great looking, inside is very nice and well thought out, & all the standard safety features make this a great value Also, if you run into snow where you live, get the AWD. I wish I did now. PS to some other posters-I dont think the sideview mirrors are heated.

  • Love my Tuscon - 2007 Hyundai TUCSON

I did a lot of research before this purchase knowing I would keep this car many years. My family (husband and 2 kids)are all over 6,so I needed a car with legroom. This suv has plenty of room in the front and back. I also have all the cargo space I need. The Santa Fe has more cargo space but I liked the interior design of the Tuscon better. Just a personal choice.

  • Great Small SUV / Crossover - 2011 Hyundai TUCSON
    By -

I have approx. 43,000 miles on my 2011 Hyundai Tucson Limited with auto geartronic trans. It has the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine. I average 22 MPG combo driving, city/highway. No engine or transmission problems. Its a great small versatile suv/crossover vehicle for those that dont constantly haul large loads, carry five passengers, or tow. The built-in navigational system/stereo is great.

This car seems quiet while driving. It is sometimes fun to drive. legroom in the back is spacious also in the front. The interior design is quite nice but it looks like any ordinary interior. Exterior design is unique but the front looks kind of ugly. You can not judge a veicle by its design you must judge it by its engine performance and veicle comfort enguine is quite economical and clean and riding comfort is quite good.
