Model Overview:

A compact crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson is aimed at buyers seeking the tall ride height and cargo convenience of a utility vehicle in a small, affordable package. Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Tucson has always offered a generous list of standard equipment and a lengthy warranty.

Although early versions of this Hyundai crossover have a decidedly budget feel, 2010 and later Tucsons have distinctive exterior styling and a slick interior to match. Acceleration and handling are also much better on the newer models, and fuel economy is significantly improved. Recent Tucson models are worth consideration if you're shopping for a used small crossover.

Solid engineering and reliability. It is primarily used for comuuting. Fuel economy could be better but overall I am happy with the car.

  • Love it, but... - 2016 Hyundai TUCSON

The automatic shift from depressing the gas pedal to accelerating is frighteningly, dangerously slow.

Ive had this care for about 1500 miles and generally am very happy with it. Im excited to get in it in the morning and drive it. I have the top of the line model so I think you have to compare this car to the Lexus NX and Audi Q3. Both are 10K more than the Tucson. This car has all the luxury features that the others have. I now understand the future of driver less cars with all the sensor the Tucson has. It really does make you a safer driver. Although I love driving the car, I do have one concern. The turbo lag from a stand still is very noticeable. Sometime the car just does not respond for a few seconds. Im learning to compensate so I think it will get better, but that is one benefit of a larger engine. All in all I would definitely recommend this car.

I bought a diamond silver Tucson 2011 about two weeks ago, trading in a Toyota Corolla 2002. The first few days I really had to get used to the Tucson. Wasnt sure about the ride, the design and the color, coming from driving a sedan. But now I really like the car. Unfortunately, the mileage is not as expected and I miss several storage pockets. But certainly looking forward to the heated seats and mirrors for winter.

Bought this 10 months ago and am looking to trade it in even though I know I will take a loss. has tons of cargo space and leg room, but the motor works too hard. Doesnt feel like it shifts properly. Not very darty--takes a long time to accelerate. Gas mileage for me has been consistently at 18 miles and less. I have never gotten even 19 mile per gallon as stated. 14 gallon tank is small--feels like I am always at the gas station. radio and amenities are positioned well for a comfy ride. Great heat and A?C but is hard to hear radio over it--not strong speakers

  • What a Car! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Read earlier review on fit of exterior panels needing improvement ... not my car or any of the others I saw in the dealership ... this little SUV beat any Mercedes I have ever owned ... and Ive owned a few. It feels rock solid .. and the doors ... they close with a solid thunk you only find in top dollar European cars. Everything works! Radio is very nice ... I live in FL and the A/C ... cold as the artic. Most solid car I have ever owned ... safest car on the road. Great internet deal! I paid $1500 below the "TMV" price for the 2.7L V6. Really recommend this little puppy ... feels like a big car on the road. Best driveaway feel of any car I have bought!

I wanted a compact suv/crossover with good fuel economy. Overall I am very happy with the car so far, thanks to its compact dimensions its easy to park and maneuver on busy San Francisco streets. Its spacious compared to my old Honda Civic. I opted for the pano moon roof and GPS which are great additions, they make the car feel higher end. I feel the car has adequate power, but than again I am happy to compromise power for the sake of better fuel economy. The styling is great, the car feels solid, and the warranty is best in class. I also looked at the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rouge, but I felt the Tuscon would be a better car for me.

Great car, great price, room galore. Quite, solid ride. My insurance went down $240 a year because of the safety features. Traded in my 2007 Patriot with no regrets. Tucson has larger storage area, more comfortable seats and sits higher. Very good mileage for this type of vehicle in a 4 cyl. A 4x4 will use more gas. 6 cyl,not worth the trade off for the difference in horsepower and mileage. Trailer hitch can tow small loads from the home centers. It is a heavy vehicle, with the front wheel drive, 4 wheel isnt needed if youre not an offroader. Quieter then the Rav4. Switched to synthetic oil increased mileage slightly. Still breaking in average about 24.4 mpg on hwy.
