  • Overall I cant complain - 1994 Honda Passport
    By -

I bought the vehicle with 110,000 miles on it. I have had to replace a lot of little things water pump, belts, alternator, electric windows, valve cover gasket, spark plug wires, most everything however any car that has almost 200,000 miles on it will have to have all that done if it even still runs. Mine still runs good is beginning to use a little oil and some other minor things but it is 11 years old. It needs a cup holder and intermittent wipers and is a little rough riding and noisy even after I changed the shocks. The gas mileage needs some work but I like the size and I use it as much as a truck as I do a car. Considering the age and milage its been good. I plan to keep driving it.

We bought a 97passport used for our teenage daughters as her first car. Four months later, with her 2 best friends along for the ride, she hydroplaned and and sheared off a tree. The tree hit the front of the car direct center and came to rest on the roof! The air bags deployed as they were designed to do. The only injuries were minor burns from the drivers side airbag. As the police officer said "the girls were very lucky" "usually it is the tree that lives and the people dont" I credit the passports amazing structural design. Yes the car was total loss by the insurance standard but it was quite a sight to see the tree on top of the roof and the roof not even dented.

  • Nice to drive, on road and off - 1999 Honda Passport

Ive had this passport for over 2 years, and it has not disappointed me. Ive done all the routine maintenance, and it has done everything Ive asked it to. I drive offroad and a lot of highways, lately. While Im not into really roughing it, I like to take rides into the desert in the winter. This is what I consider a real "ladylike" SUV (for me at least) - it looks nice, is easy to handle, I can run it through the mud, and then after a car wash, drive it to the office all week. Nice.

  • Great, versatile SUV ! - 1999 Honda Passport

This is a fun vehicle. And, despite what a lot of people seem to complain, it has been supremely reliable. I bought this Passport over 2 years ago, used, and have done all the regular maintenance. I drive it hard over the weekend and during the week. A lot of highway driving to work. Weekends (when time permits) over 4WD roads in the desert or the mountains. It has needed predictable maintenance - the tires all needed replacing at once at 60,000 miles, but that was the life expectancy of the original tires. What else can I say - its a great car to drive offroad, then run it through a carwash and it looks nice to go off to work or go out in.

190K miles and still runs grrrreat, I replaced just basic parts like brake pads, filters, and all belts. I had just 1 problem. My belt tensioner was cracked

  • It leaks from everywhere!! - 1996 Honda Passport
    By -

It is difficult for me to think of a spot in this vehicle that does not leak. Oil leak, sunroof leak, door leak, window leak, and radiator leak ... all culminating in the last nine months. Didnt do so great in the Colorado Rockies either. Major lack of power at higher altitudes.

  • I wish I wouldve read a review first!!! - 1997 Honda Passport

This car was great for the first year and then the engine started clicking. It only stops after you get the oil changed and the noise elimination only lasted a month. It sometimes felt like it was trying to pull itself. I was told that this was the worst used car to buy after the fact. The driver leg space is horrible b/c the seat doesnt adjust back that far. Im 53 and had trouble when i wore stilettos. If you hit the slightest bump it knocks it out of alignment. It seemed like the longer I drove it the gas mileage got worse. Overall do not buy this car!!!!!! Its a waste of money. No wonder you see so many used ones on car lots.

  • Reliable and durable - 1996 Honda Passport
    By -

The Honda Passport has been extremely reliable. It has also performed very well in the snow, more some than some of the more car-like SUVs of recent years. Everything I would expect of a vehicle with the Honda name and more. Ive owned it for 6 years w/o major issues.

Performance is good. Roomy interior - especially passenger seating. Poor gas mileage 15-20 mpgs. Minor issues - broken passenger window mechanism, broken driver windshield wiper mechanism.
