  • Acid or tree sap - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

If you park your car outdoors and it might be under a tree, tree sap may bubble your paint like it was acid and Honda will do nothing to address it. So dont park your car outdoors. It also does not say anything about this in the warranty. The paint quality of Honda has gone down hill. Had 5 Hondas, 4 Accords and this has been the most disappointing. Will never purchase another Honda again.

  • Dying excitement on third day!!! - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

Ever since the 2016 accord release we were very excited. We loved the technology, safety and fuel economy, and of course the brand name Honda. Finally purchased one few days ago 2016 Accord EX-L 2.4L black and black. It looks amazing. New wheels style, drl, back led lights makes the car look stylish. I like the infotainment system and luxury looking interiors. However, all this excitement died out soon and now I am actually dreading to drive it already. The front seats are extremely uncomfortable, making my driving experience very poor. First day after an hour of drive I started to feel uncomfortable in the back. Thought I was still adjusting to the new seats. But the problem started to worsen. I have to drive about an hour and a half to my work and just after second day of use my problem is heading towards worse. Now third day and I am dreading to take it for the drive. The problem is with the lumbar support and seat structure itself. I love everything else about the car, but whats the use of a car if it gives me new health problems!!! Just above the lumbar support mechanism there is a band of stiff area which doesnt move, which pinches on the back. This is high up and digs a little into ribs on back. If I use the lumbar support to even it out, that makes it more uncomfortable. The support is too hard and poorly designed. Additionally, the seats back and base are hinged such that it causes strain in the hips. Now my hips started to hurt as well. I have tried every setting possible without any relief. I am 58" with average built and I never had any prior back issues. I used to drive a Nissan altima without any problems and never had any problems with other cars I used to rent for long drives. But I am surprised to see accord is so uncomfortable. This problem is highly unlikely to be surface with short test drives, and accord is not a fleet car and usually not available to rent. So I never realized the problem. I really wanted to like the car but I dont know what to do now. I never thought a car which costs over 30k would be so poorly made. New buyers beware!!! If you have no issues with the seats I think its a great car.

  • Finicky drivers review - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

I drive a lot to get to work. Ive owned about 9 or 10 different cars (mostly hondas or acuras) and tend to be pretty critical of vehicles. Overall after 700 miles on a 2016 Accord EX (no leather or Honda Sense) Id give the car a solid B-. Handling is good: not too much body roll and car goes where I point it. But Id prefer slightly faster biting brakes. Ride quality is decent, but certainly not as smooth as these professional car reviewers say. Perhaps its only the higher end trims or the V6 with this supposed smooth ride, but my Accord rides firm. You feel most bumps. I also dont like how it deals with road undulations, the landing coming back down is abrupt. Vehicle quietness overall is very good: wind and road noise are generally well controlled. However there is some noticeable drone and vibration from the cvt and there are some squeaking sounds on interior panels when driving over certain coarse surfaces. Fuel economy is fantastic. Im averaging 31mpg in mixed driving on regular. Stereo and infotainment are pretty good quality for class. And I really like the Apple Carplay feature.

  • Miss my 2013 EX-L V6 - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

I want to love this car, but I cant. I might upgrade my review if I dont have any more problems. So far one major, one minor. 1. Have the engine, transmission and cylinders checked out before you by. I had a failure at 600 miles. Have never had a problem before (this is my 5th Accord) 2. Insist on a replacement front window rubber strip-there is excessive wind noise at over 40 mph, a known issue. 3. If you are buying online, note that the beautiful Alabaster Silver has been replaced by Lunar Silver, which is more grey than silver. 4. Older buyers may find smaller fonts and controls on sound system frustrating. 5. This model has something called "limp mode". If I had known what it was before my car died suddenly, I wouldnt have been quite so scared.

  • Excellent on technology; falters on audio & shifts - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

Overall this is a very good car, but I have two main issues with it: the sound system is poor, and the transmission "jerks" the driver as it shifts. The sound system does not handle highs and lows of sound properly. I expect much more out of the "premium" seven speaker sound system I paid extra to add onto this car. On researching the issue, it is apparently inherent in the output for noise canceling in order to keep the care quiet. But it ends up making the audio terrible. There used to be a solution to this as described on internet forums: what you would do is open up a secret menu on the screen, then set "FLAT" to off. But, in newer versions of the car Honda has taken the ability to modify this feature away. Thus I am stuck with this terrible sound. The second issue I have with the car is the transmission. When upshifting or downshifting there is a noticeable "jolt" or "jerk" to the car. This is FAR worse in cold weather. If you live in a climate that is cold year round, I would avoid purchasing this car. From what I have read, this is somehow due to government requirements to implement shifting to keep gas usage low (supposedly). Besides these jerks, the car with v6 engine does accelerate fast. Otherwise, the main way the car shines is with its tech. The lane sensing ability is pretty good at staying in lanes. If you let go of the steering wheel, the car will beep at you after about 30 seconds to touch the wheel again. You can get the car to fully take on lane sensing by just lightly putting pressure on the wheel but letting it do all the work. Careful on turns and at exits - it tends to lose its way. Adaptive cruise control is a feature I never knew I needed. This dramatically increased safety on the highway, highly decreasing your chances of hitting any car. But if you are in a high traffic area, best to turn it off. The car leaves too big of a gap in that case and lets other cars sneak in front of you. Then the car smashes the brakes to but another gap in between you. Its not too much of an issue once you get to know your car but can be annoying. Theres a right sided blind spot camera thats neat but for some reason not one on the left side. If you accelerate toward a car to fast and get to close, an orange light beeps at you to warn you. Its helpful. The display panel interface is pretty wonky to use, not user friendly. Apple Carplay is an amazing addition (its not easier to use by touch than just using your phone, but it does look very nice on the screen. The integration with Siri comes in handy. I find myself using it to navigate). The car seems to be tight on steering. Overall the car is very quiet. Bottom line, this is a very good car. But the problems with the sound system and transmission hurt its performance. At $30K for a V6 touring Honda Accord, I cant help but think Id be better off with an Audi.

  • Accord poorly insulated - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

I feel the 2016 Accord EX-L is a nice car for limited use meaning around town and short trips with speeds bellow 60 miles/h over that speed it gets very noisy to the point that I have to raise the radio volume that makes me feel very uncomfortable. The noise is from the wind, the road, I think the car is not properly insulated, also the top of the dashboard gets very hot with the sun reflecting the heat in my face.

  • Do not get the CVT - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

Bought a 2016 Acord early this year. In less than 6 months it has to go back to the dealer for some CVT software fix. And the dealer closes by 4 so have to take it on the weekend. Did not plan pn spending my weekends at the dealer when I bought this car!

  • sexy car with not so great interior design - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

Outside is WONDERFUL however driving sites very low to the ground in the sport edition which causes the handling to be quite ruff and the ride just as ruff, the controls on the steering wheel are horribly placed and you constantly hit the dial a person button. The steering wheel is just awkward in general. Also the stereo system is terrible you do not get quality thats for sure.

  • Nicely designed from the exterior, not interior - 2016 Honda Accord
    By -

One of the things that drew me to this car was the refreshed exterior for 2016. Hands down, to me, it is one of the best looking mid-size cars out right now. I have had my Touring edition for a little over a month now and I continue to get compliments almost daily on the looks of the car. Even when I see one on the road, I have to admire how good it looks. Exterior wise, this car looks perfect with his sculpted lines, curves and LED headlights, tail lights. Honda really has made this Accord stand out in the looks department in comparison to other mid size cars in the same price range. I took the car on a few test drives before making the decision to trade my 2011 Camry SE V6 in for the Accord Touring. When test driving you really dont get as acquainted with the interior unless you really own it as test drives are too short of a time to really settle in to a car. Below are my issues with the interior of the Accord. - Door panel construction- Seems very, very thin. When resting your elbow against it, it pushes in with very little force. This feels very flimsy. I am used to resting my elbow on the door panel while driving. This can not be done in this car due to how the panel is designed. For me, this makes for an uncomfortable driving experience. - Center console construction - When resting your elbow on this, it pushes in, similar to the door panel. It feels like there needs to be more plastics to harden the feel of the console as it does not feel solid. The console is also very, very small. In fact, this is the smallest center console that Ive even seen or used in car. There is very little room to place anything of decent size in it without filling the entire console. - Cup holders for driver/passenger - To me, these were designed very poorly. They are too deep for smaller sized cups. When ordering food/drinks, if you opt to get a small cup, the cup will almost sit flush with the top of the cup holder. This makes it difficulty to sometimes grab a hold the cup without popping the lid off inadvertently. It is too deep to the point that you almost have to put some type of padding in the cup holder to bring the height up for a cup to sit and be grabbed properly. The cup holders also sit further back than they should. It is somewhat awkward to grab a cup, as it sits right next to the center console. - Glovebox - This is the smallest glove box that I have ever used in a vehicle. You can only place a few items in it before filling it up. Also, when closed, it doesnt line up very well with the rest of the paneling. It is off by a few centimeters and is very noticeable. I have heard of this issue with Accords but didnt think I would have this issue on a brand new 2016. - Interior rattle- I cant quite seem to determine where this is coming from. I want to say it is emanating from the passenger right side or right rear door. It is somewhat embarrassing as it can easily be heard when no one is talking or if music is not playing. I noticed this within a week of owning the car. This could be related to the fact that the car has a rough, stiff ride due to its suspension and 19" rims/tires. I still feel that this rattling should not be occurring. - Stereo system - The stereo in the accord leaves a lot to be desired. Coming from a JBL system in a Camry, I may be a little spoiled in this area. Even with the sub and bass turned up the highest setting, the audio still seams weak. Ive tweaked just about every setting possible, but still cant seem to get a rich, deep sound from the system. I stream mostly via Bluetooth. When connected directly via Apple Car Play, the audio sounds even worse. The sounds seem muffled and distant when directly connected. Overall, Im just not happy with the audio system of this car. It is unfortunate that there is not an optional premium audio system to choose from for this vehicle. - Seats - I don’t know whether it’s just me or if there really is a problem with the seats. I have tried all sorts of configurations and can’t seem to sit comfortably in the car while driving. I’m 5’9” so I’m not terribly short or tall. - V6 Performance - Perhaps the Camry SE v6 has spoiled me in this department as well as that car had plenty of power and pep when needed. The V6 Accord is just tuned differently I guess. It seems to be little sluggish initially but when it gets going, the power eventually comes. It just doesnt feel as lively and peppy as I think it should be. Perhaps my Accord needs to be looked at, not really sure at this point. Dont get me wrong, when the shifter is put into Sport mode, the car behaves very differently. When not in this mode, it just seems to be a bit unresponsive and sluggish. I do love the fact that the car is very fuel efficient on the highway as I typically average about 31/32 miles per gallon when driving long distances at highway speeds. Overall, the Accord is a nice car, just not the car for me. I will be trading it very soon.
