This Year's Model Updates:

Honda Accord has been fully redesigned for 2008. It's bigger and roomier. New four- and six-cylinder engines are not only more powerful, they either match or surpass their predecessors in terms of fuel economy.

Pros:
  • Powerful and fuel-efficient engines, ample passenger space, balanced approach to handling and ride comfort, striking coupe styling.
Cons:

  • Check the oil daily - 2008 Honda Accord

This is my 9th Honda over the last 28 years. It may be my last. The car is fun to drive, handles nicely, is comfortable and burns a qt of oil per 1000 miles. Honda says this is "in specs". I have never had a Honda that used oil like this before. Because I drive for a living I cannot afford to keep this car. I change oil every 5K. In other words, I add 5 qts of oil between every change. I will trade it for something other than Honda.

  • Honda Slips - 2008 Honda Accord

This is my 5th Honda, and sad to say, I like it the least. Is it the only sedan in its price range with no outside temp or mpg display? I was shocked to learn, after purchase, that my new 08 was not as safe as my 04, the 08 only having 3 stars in the rear crash test. The engine is responsive and quick, handling good, design the best Honda ever, but I dont like the thumping noise I hear every time I hit the brakes. Honda says its normal, I say its annoying. I am looking for a different car--Legacy? Taurus? Malibu?

  • Getting too Big to Handle - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

I waited few months to write this review due to that I thought I will give it enough time to get used to its size. I owe a 1993 Accord that I love to drive, the 2008 is not a fun car to drive. The Gas mileage is good, the acceleration sometime is slow when cold from 1st to 2nd gear. Seats are little on the hard side.

  • Should have kept my BMW - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

I traded my M3 and purchase a Honda Accord EX-L 4 cyl for reliability reason. But I was did not work-out the way I had expected. first set of brakes replaced at 23k miles ($451 dollars) and at 39,400 I need another one. Honda dealers and Honda are not very helpful. I rather purchase a Ford next time.

  • Great car for the money - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Paid $20,500 before tax for LXP model. Great car, really comfortable and quiet. No problem so far. One complaint , I can never get to around 31 mpg on highway. The best I can get on the highway is around 27 mpg

  • Go for the Stick - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Car looks great in coupe form. Would recommend to get the stick, as the automatic feels quite detuned. There is also a lag on acceleration, likely due to the VEM. 2008 models have many problem areas; rear brake premature wear at 20,000, improperly installed headlights and taillights causing paint chipping around the lights. Seats are too firm and leather is quite "hard" in character and feel. Lots of room, especially for the driver and passenger. Radio works great. Gas mileage not quite as good as advertised. Quality does not seem to be up to par as previous Hondas. Resale value for the V6 is unacceptably low. Rear window should have a rear wiper.

  • Good car but......... - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

This is our first Honda. Styling and general handeling are great. Problems include premature brake wear at 24000 miles. They have always made noise. Road noise is excessive. Seats are comfortable for around town but on drives over 2 hours they kill our lower backs. Even all the seat adjustment controls dont help. We will be selling this car due to this.

  • Honda Accord, the new Impala - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

In my opinion, with its redesigned Accords, Honda has perfected the classic American large sedan. This new Honda feels like a very well put together Chevy Impala. It’s designed for American roads and American families so I suppose that’s fine. So far, and I have only had it a week, I find it like driving a barge. I don’t care for it but it’s not so bad that I can say I hate it. It’ just not fun to drive. It’s fine on the interstate but parking is clunky and I don’t long to drive it like I did my old BMWs. Alas, now I own it. I wish Honda had a return policy.

  • Rear break noise since the first day - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Had the noise from rear brake since the first day I had it. Around 5000 miles, I visited my dealer and asked them to check it. My dealers feedback was that it was normal and my dealer had done nothing about it. Around 22000 miles, big noise from rear brake, and when I was on the road, I got a lot of attention from other drivers. This is my fourth new Honda, after Accord 2001, CRV 2004 and Odyssey 2007, and my 2001 accord also had a lot of problems on transmission. Anyway, for my next car, I wont consider Honda anymore.

  • Excellent Family Sedan - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Purchased this vehicle 3 days after it was introduced. Was able to purchase appox $1000 below sticker, even though other dealers in Houston quoted $2K to $3K over sticker. The exterior of the car is a real head turner. The interior is a step up from the previous Accord. It is not lacking in anything, but it is also not extraordinary. It is what it is, a family sedan. I choose this car over a Camry, Aura, and Civic because it has the best combination of reputation, performance, price, and initial quality
