For 2000, the 2WD can be had with a "Trailhead" off-road style suspension package complete with larger tires and wheels, giving it the tough look of its 4WD cousin. All 2000 Ford Ranger models have new wheel designs, and the XLT 4WD Off-Road Group receives a stainless-steel front-suspension skid plate.

Pros:
  • Four-door entry, five-speed automatic and optional flexible fuel/electric powertrains, thoughtful interior.

Second Ranger, first qwas a 1997, served me well. But the 2000 has more spunk, bigger tires, handles like a bigger truck. Well satisfied with quality, Ride and looks.

  • Great truck, will buy another one - 2000 Ford Ranger

I had no problems with this truck after three years and 52,000 miles. Loved the four doors. My husband accidentally rolled it 1 1/4 times in the snow, (truck was totalled) and he had only a few cuts on his hands and sore muscles. He wants one with a bigger engine, but I saw nothing I would change on this truck, except maybe better gas mileage. It pulled a trailer fine. We are looking for another one just like it!

This vehicle has been perfect from day one. Very low maintence, and will perform any hauling function needed around the house.

I have had a wonderful experience with my Ford Ranger. In my nearly 3 years of ownership I have only needed a fuel pump replaced, which was covered under the warrenty. This truck gets decent fuel economy too. I would highly recommend this vehicle for anyone who needs a basic truck to do just about any non-commercial task you throw at it.

I this truck. it has no power, you have to push down the accelerator as far as it will go just to do 45 up a small hill. its fun todrive and reliable but dodge dakotas are SO much better in every area.

I brought home my Ranger in the Spring of 2000. It has been a great truck to own. The four-wheel drive with the limited-slip axle is awesome in the snow. Acceleration from the 4.0 impresses, but the gas milage doesnt. The engine has performed flawlessly with out any mechanical problems. I thought it was a bit pricy when optioned out compared to a full-sized truck with about the same equipment. Towing is very good, as is the overall comfort. The jumpseats are best suited for smaller people. Would be a better interstate runner if not for the gas consumption!

  • My lemon-Ranger nightmare - 2000 Ford Ranger

Its always in the shop. The compressor turns on and off so fast that it makes a loud rattling noise. The inept Ford mechanics have no idea how to fix it..Ive had it to multiple dealerships. I sued ford and they settled... now it has problems starting. Im never buying a Ford again. Beware...buy an import itll hold its value better and be more reliable. Toyota would be my next choice.

  • Dont even look at an S10 - 2000 Ford Ranger
    By -

I have owned three rangers including the 2000 I have now. I have also driven S10s in the past. No comparison! The ranger wins hands down. The ride, handling, interior controls, looks, and overall quality are much better.I drive 30,000 miles a year and have had very few problems. If looking for a small truck, dont waste your time at a GM lot--buy the ranger.
