This Year's Model Updates:

2001 Ford Mustang GT models get unique hood and side scoops, so that you can tell 'em apart from V6 models. They also receive standard 17-inch wheels, and V6 Convertibles get 16-inch wheels as standard. All cars have a revised center console and blacked-out headlights and spoilers. The Mach 460 stereo system comes with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. A new "premium" trim line is created for both V6 and V8 models. After a one-year hiatus, the Ford SVT Mustang Cobra returns for 2001.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power, competent chassis and brakes, good crash test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, dorky-looking fake hood and side scoops, poor stereo ergonomics.

I always wanted a MUSTANG now I have one wow. I enjoy driving my car and I get alot of compliments because of the color and cleanliness. For some odd reasons ricers always want to race and get beat bad. Good driving on the highway gives u that passing speed and to me just all around fun.

For the money you cant beat it. Ive put 35000 miles on it since Ive had it with little to NO trouble aside from regular maintenance. 85000 on it now and still going strong. Very practical car for daily driving, but also good fun when the mood strikes. So far Ive been able to get 31mpg on the highway and about 17/18 in the city with a 5 speed trans. Not bad for an 8 year old sports car.

I purchased the car stock. I added a procharger supercharger, saleen body kit, 18x9.5 cobra R rims, Brembo brakes, t56 tranny, mac long tube headers, bassani x pipe, 2 flowmasters 40 series, and Recaro Seats and well this car is getting me 552 @ 5600 hps wiht 518 rwhp tuned by me with some modifications and I saved about 10,000 dollars buying a cobra. So its a good deal to buy this Gt because it has a lot of potential.

  • Great car, NEEDS GEARS! - 2001 Ford Mustang

Ford made a great one size fits all muscle car here. I recently bought the car with only 2400 miles on her. Love the seats, the stock exhaust sound too. However, the 4V engine does not make a lot of tq down low so from idle to 3500rpms the 4V is a bit weak but from 3800 to 6000rpm is sheer bliss! The only good about the long 3:27 gears is if you set the cruise at 60mph you can easily get 27mpg. Cowl shake is a bit annoying buts its a vert so its to be expected. Fit and finish on this particular car is good for a mass produced Ford. I love this car...

GREAT LOOKING CAR. QUALITY IS SO-SO.

  • Longevity! - 2001 Ford Mustang

I am the original owner of my 01 convertible and I am extremely impressed with the build quality. Other than scheduled fluid changes I have not had a single issue. The car starts everytime, it is fun to drive and for what it is (an entry level sports car) I am a very satisfied customer. Having owned a 95 coupe this car is superior in every way. I have modified the car with dual exhaust /w GT bumper, hood & side scoops, a fibreglass front bumper, tires & rims, welded sub-frame connectors, strut tower brace, pedal kit, and new air intake.

Very fun to drive. Nice acceleration great for overtaking people on the highway. And whats fun is when people try to race you on the highways. No problems so far handles and drives smooth. Summer tires a plus.

I bought a 2002 GT new and it was a fun car but the insurance was too much and I had to sell it. I just bought this 2001 GT convertible and it brings back all the great memories of that 02 but now the insurance is 1/3 the price. I love these cars because they are the cheapest fun you can use to commute to work. I get 27 mpg, 130 miles a day and my 3 year old loves it. Its loud (flowmaster) fun, fast, and engaging for a person that loves cars. Why anybody would commute in a boring daily driver I cant understand when you can get these things so cheap used and they get decent mileage....I was buying a new Challenger this year but think I made the right choice.

It is a great car for your money worth. Bangs for bucks. Sure it doesnt have the power of the Camaro or Trans Am but doesnt cost as much either. And is still the more popular car of the GM brothers. That why it out sells both of them 2-1 and why they were put out of production in 2002. I have had no problems yet this car after 21,000 miles. It sure turns a lot of heads and is asked to be raced at the lights as well. This a great car to drive daily to work & fun. Although the GT is really a bad car in the snow or wet weather so have some kind of back up car for winter.
