I have been very impressed with the quality of this wagon. It drives and feels like a much more expensive vehicle. There have been a few recalls, but I have never had a problem with the car. A great samll car.

  • One of the best cars Ford made - 2000 Ford Focus

We own Ford Focus for almost 8 years and I have to say we had the least problems with with cars from all other cars we owned in the past. I never had to take this car for any major repairs. This is a very simple and quite reliable car. I had more problems with VW Passat and Saab 9.5

Bought my first Ford. Read up on issues. They were true. Not impressed as Ford states quality. Cheap feeling car. Original owner replace fuel pump, front brakes and front struts. I replace ignition switch, which should never, ever fail. Fuel mileage not very impressive in city. Have rattle in exhaust system, suspect cataytlic converter.

  • So far so good - 2000 Ford Focus

I got this as my first car. Normally I never buy American cars but I needed a car badly. I spent $1100 fix it and I still need to fix the electric and also need to replace the rotors. Aside from all that its very comfy and I really hope it wouldnt leave me stranded. I shouldve gotten a Honda.

  • Great after the first year - 2000 Ford Focus

Purchased this car new in 2000. In the first year, we suffered through a few recalls and had the fuel pump replaced a couple of times. However, it seems everything has been fixed, because there have been no problems with the car since the warranty expired. It has only been in the shop for oil changes and other regular maintenance. Its not new anymore, but I cant justify getting a newer car when the old one is still reliable and gets very good gas mileage for an 8-year old.

  • 100,000 miles in 3 years - 2000 Ford Focus

A great car with a few problems, most recalls fixed things that I had replaced already. Fantastic summer & rain handling but buy top grade snow tires for winter. Fuel pump needed to be replaced because of a design flaw that Ford fixed in replacement. Still have original brakes with no troubles. Be careful slamming back tailgate, you may dent the door like I did. Avg. 28 MPG with highspeed (79 MPH) driving and hauling more stuff than I should.

  • Focus-love it! - 2000 Ford Focus

I bought this car, my first new(used) car!Only problem was left brake light out. Got it fixed right away, have seen 1 or 2 with same light out...makes me wonder. Other than that I love it. It zips around and picks up when I need it to.

  • Bad/Scary - 2000 Ford Focus

The car was bought used and was only two years old at the time of purchase. After only 5 months of owning the car I discovered a major problem with loss of vehicle power during turning at a normal speed, which later became a recall on this vehicle. (Almost had several collisions due to this problem) The first time I called the Ford Co. about the problem they said their had been no similar reports. Also I had taken the car to the dealership 3 times for repair of this problem, which was finally solved when Ford sent me a recall notice. This was the first of several other recalls I had to have fixed. Every year something major has gone wrong, costing usually around 1K. Please spare yourself!

  • Worst car ever! - 2000 Ford Focus
    By -

I bought this car believing the hype from both Consumer Reports and everywhere else. I have now owned my Focus for 2 years, and I have had it in the shop 12 times. Yup, 12 times. 6 recalls and 6 broken parts that were under warranty. I have never been more disappointed in any product in my entire life. Truly, Ford has continued along the tradition of the Pinto, where they calculate how much it will cost to replace broken stuff as being lower then how much it will cost to put in higher quality parts. Its a textbook cost-benefit analysis, and Ford wrote the textbook. Dont buy a Ford.
