Happy to hear: Totaled - 2000 Ford Focus
By ktgritz - March 26 - 7:03 pmI had this car given to me by my dad and he said it was a good car. Well it might have been a good car when he had it but it seemed that from the time I took hold of the keys everything fell apart. First 100 miles struts break $600. 300 miles power steering pump $300. 500 miles wheel bearing $500. 1000 miles Transmission slips estimated $2000. luckily someone hit me and totaled it (no one was hurt) it always started rough. for your own sake dont buy it. if you do and keep it driving for a year you will put more repairs into it than its worth. i bought a Grand Prix GT with the money much happier with it. more power + less repairs = happier customer

Hated this car! - 2000 Ford Focus
By tbone2123 - October 6 - 2:00 amThis car was just totaled and thats the best thing that ever happened to us. We have spent so much money on it: engine, lock cylinder, window motors, etc, etc. There really is not much good that I can say about it. I looked it up on the Ford website and it was the second worst Ford ever made and the worst Focus ever made. It had over 100 recalls! Stay away from this car!

Lemon - 2000 Ford Focus
By Jaspat2 - October 8 - 2:00 amI bought this car with 23k on it and now have 34k. In the 6 months Ive owned it it has been in the shop 3 times for the following problems:1)Water leak in firewall under dash caused carpet to mold. 2)Transmission leak. 3)Broken rear window defrost.4)Stereo display/preset button lights went out.5)Fuel gauge died..twice! This car has great curb appeal but lousy reliability. Buyer Beware!

Focus, Ford!! - 2000 Ford Focus
By unit-i - September 20 - 2:00 amI put about 40k miles per year on my cars, and this one has not held up. It has gone through brakes every 30k miles, the suspension eats through tires, the windows have stopped working on 2 occasions, the fuel gage has never been accurate despite 3 repairs, several interior panels are loose, the drivers side mirror is loose... I have already spent twice as much in repairs on this car than I have on my 96 civic hatchback, which has almost 200k miles now and has again become my daily driver due to the poor build quality of this car.

Selling because of key - 2000 Ford Focus
By chr2000 - September 18 - 10:00 amI bought this car new and ignition cylinder has had to be replaced 4 times. I put key in ignition and wont turn. As Im sure it will happen again, I sell. Tired of getting stuck and towed to a dealer who tells me I dont know how to use a key! Also, brake problems and rear hatch lock goes twice. This car only has 41,000 miles. After owning a number of Ford products, wont buy one again. This car has been a terrible disappointment.

Frustrated with Ford - 2000 Ford Focus
By Frustrated with Ford - September 9 - 10:00 amI have had this car for one year and have had nothing but nightmares. There was 15,000 miles left on warranty when bought and was definitely needed! I had the emissions pump and blinkers fixed under warranty. Oh, then replaced the brakes on my own... had two recalled repairs and now 1,000 miles past warranty, My engine is no longer functioning... yeah, the 2nd and 3rd cylinders are damaged. Wheres Fords help now??? So, much for customer service! My first and last Ford EVER!

2000 FOCUS - 2000 Ford Focus
By JACKWARE - July 23 - 10:00 amMANY MANY RECALLS. SMALL ANNOYANCES SUCH AS WINDOW OFF TRACK, EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET FAILURE, TRANS FAILURE AT 32,OOO MILES, TRIM PIECES FALL OFF. THEN TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, MY FORD DEALER OFFERS 4250.00 AS TRADE VALUE ON NEW MUSTANG. THAT IS 278.00 PER MONTH DEPRECIATION. GOING TO HONDA OR TOYOTA. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A NON U.S. BUILT CAR.

Terrible Vehicle - 2000 Ford Focus
By Terrible Vehicle - July 12 - 11:43 amThis is just a bad car. I bought brand new in 2000. The first two years I spent more time getting recalls done then driving. Then at about 100k miles the car fell apaprt. New clutch, front springs broke, battery, battery cables, battery itself, ac, heater, alternator, the list goes on. Ive spent over 6k in the past two years trying to keep this car on the road. Please dont buy an early mondel focus. It will just be a money pit.

Piece o junk - 2000 Ford Focus
By BadFocus - July 11 - 2:00 amHeres a partial list in order of importance: cruise control (3 times), Horn (twice), water pump exploding ($350), on-board computer system ($750), engine lights consistently staying on keeping me from passing emissions ($1000) and the worst of them all: the engine mounts breaking and my engine falling out! This ran me another $1,000. Also, I had two minor wrecks at less than 15 MPH. The damage due to those was amazing as the shoddy workmanship really showed. I couldnt have made a worse choice than the Focus.
