Overview & Reviews
A new steering wheel and instrument panel freshen the Explorer's interior. New wheels are the only exterior changes. Explorers gain four-wheel antilock brakes that work in both two- and four-wheel-drive modes.

shouldve bought a chevy - 1993 Ford Explorer
By BRYAN - January 30 - 11:15 amI bought that truck with 100,000 miles on it. At first it was a good truck to drive. Soon after I bought it, the head gaskets blew. I had them replaced and after that the motor had a ticking problem. A few hundred miles later, somehow or another tranny fluid started getting in the crankcase. The first time I changed the oil after the fix, I was dumbfounded. Ihad a 6qt. Oil drain pan and it overflowed it and way more. How does transmission fluid get into the engine?

Okay used suv - 1993 Ford Explorer
By marcopolozx11 - November 10 - 11:00 amI just bought this Explorer for a winter beater, and so far so good. Fuel mileage really stinks though. I do roadside assistance for a living, so I really dislike the poor fuel mileage.

TRANSMISSION - 1993 Ford Explorer
By agappraiser - August 1 - 2:00 amWe bought the car new, off the lot, and have had normal use and maintenance on the vehicle. No off roading, or extreme towing. Yet there have had 2 bouts of transmission service. The first at just over 90,000 miles on the odometer and the second job within 2 years and 20,000 added miles. The "Ford tuff truck" is the image of the older truck chaise Explorer that could be used both for tough utility purposes as well as a passanger vehicle. Yet the power train did not last with basic to & from work city style driving.
