This Year's Model Updates:

Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.

Pros:
  • Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

Solid and dependable. This is great on long trips, which is primarily what it gets used for. Gas mileage...well, its what youd expect for a V8 and what was advertised when we bought it. Plenty of power. I wish the clearance was a couple inches higher because I do take this off-road for camping. No towing issues with 17 boot and trailer. Engine is quiet. Seats 7 with reasonable comfort, though its primarily just ma, pa, & the boy with the 3rd row of seats folded down for luggage. 2nd row of seats folds flat and can fit a few 4x8 sheets of plywood. We hope they improve mileage with future models, because wed consider another.

  • Excellent Surprise - 2004 Ford Expedition

This vehicle has been an excellent surprise. It is comfortable is every seating position, quiet and totally reliable. The surprise is that it consistently gets over 20 mpg in highway travel. As a daily driver in town it drops to 16+. The secret is in keeping the tires at 34 or 35 psi. The ride is not soft, but the handling is responsive. I also find that, though no dragster, it is not a slouch. I get to check it out in the home city of the X5 that is rated so highly. This machine is more comfortable, has more room, hauls and pulls more and has more power than the X5. Now, if it would just keep the resale value....

  • Love It! - 2004 Ford Expedition

I especially like the larger mirrors- handy when towing our Holiday Rambler or my boat. The 4WD with the advancetrac is surefooted on the way to the slopes, something our autoride-equipped Suburban was not. Much better interior quality than my sisters 2000 EB Expy 4X4

I love my Expedition. I had been driving a Ford F250 or F350 for over 15 years when I decided I wanted something a little more like a car. I could not have picked a nicer, sweeter vehicle. I bought a 2 horse Sundowner trailer to pull behind it. It makes for a really nice rig.

This vehicle fits my life perfectly. One of my favorite features is the power third row seat. Some days I have all the back seats folded down hauling gear. Other days, I need the third row seat for clients or friends. I drive about 40,000 miles per year, mostly highway. Its a comfortable ride. It is my second Expedition and probably not my last.

This is by far one of the best vehicles Ive ever owned. It has excellent handling for a large SUV and great responsiveness. Most of the features are self explanatory and in the appropriate spots for easy access. There is lots of room for storage in the glove box & the center console. We recently took a trip and after 11 hrs on the road, we were still up for going to the park. No more road fatigue from long trips. My family will have to yell at me from now on as the sound system is awesome!

when i picked up my fully loaded eddie bauer instantly i wanted to test its capability on the highway and the new independent supension in atlantas rush hour traffic.on the highway jumping in and out of lanes it showed the car like ajillity. for a minute was drag racing but got upset from the 260 hp engine that had me thinking what the hell am i doing trying to indy 500 a black school bus.on my way home i turned off my automatic climate air and opened my large sunroof let down the windows.i really felt as if i was floating on air until i hit a bump and nearly broke my neck.other than the hard shock and slow engine i really love my new expedition.

  • I Would Buy Another One - 2004 Ford Expedition

I have two children and already own a F250 that has been great but needed an SUV. The Epedition was the last one me and my wife looked at and its the one we bought we love it. The ride it great and power is very smooth and quite. There is more than ample room. We have several motorcyles and a waverunner and there has been plenty of power to pull both even up hills. This is this best SUV in its class. Buy the 5.4L V8 its the only way to go with an SUV of this size.
