Overview & Reviews
Power output is improved for both Triton V8 engines on Ford's full-size sport-ute. Package content is added for both XLT and Eddie Bauer trim levels. Power-adjustable accelerator and brake pedals have been added. An updated Command Trac four-wheel-drive system allows automatic four-wheel-drive operation when required. Spruce Green, Harvest Gold, Tropic Green and Deep Wedgewood Blue replace Light Prairie Tan, Vermont Green, Light Denim Blue and Pacific Green on the color chart.
- Big, comfortable, and easy to drive. Good off-road, too.
- If you can reduce your seating needs by one (from nine to eight) the Dodge Durango is less expensive and easier to maneuver.

Ford = high maintenance - 1999 Ford Expedition
By FormerFordFan-2 - January 29 - 2:00 amWhile in warranty I was forced to visit the dealer 4 times for repairs. But it was after the warranty expired that things really started to go wrong. Having spent over $9,000 in repairs since the warranty expired I am convinced that Ford sold me a defective vehicle and are continuing to sell this same vehicle still today. Sure the new one looks different, buts thats just marketing hype. Inside this vehicle hasnt changed, just ask any honest engineer or maintenance tech at Ford and they will tell you that the changes are cosmetic.

Very unhappy - 1999 Ford Expedition
By egshepard - January 28 - 2:00 amFrom the first year we had this vehicle it has been one problem after another. Weve had the transfer case replaced twice (supposedly). We think the dealership never replaced it the first time. Replaced starter. Replaced shifter cable to linkage. Radio display consistantly does not display and scans through stations for no apparent reason. Passenger window works intermittently, so we dont use it. This was enough to keep us from ever purchasing another Ford vehicle. We are considering trading it in and going into to debt for a Honda Pilot even though our Expedition is paid off. Biggest mistake we ever made.

Not worth the money - 1999 Ford Expedition
By Leon Pollack - December 20 - 2:00 amThis vehicle has been nothing but problems. My electrical system started failing before I reached 40,000 miles. I have a vehicle that has less than 65,000 miles and Im replacing the electrical system in the column for $1200. I ahve put more than $6000 into this vehicle over the past two years. next week im going out to buy me a Japanese (Toyota sequoia or Nissan Armarda) SUV. I ahve had it with American vehicles. I have owned all brands and now i understand why people buy foreign vehicles. I also understand why American companies give you a three year warranty, their vehicles are onbly designed to last three years.

Safety - 1999 Ford Expedition
By happytobealive - October 27 - 2:00 amYesterday I was involved in a serious accident with my 1999 Expediation. If it wasnt for the fact that the truck was so well built and the handling was so tight, I wouldnt be here today. The drivers door took the full impact and the drivers compartment was not compromised in any way. Both myself and my husband (who was driving) walked away. The truck was totalled and I am going right out and buy another!! Excellent truck!

SUV that rides like a truck - 1999 Ford Expedition
By Rnak - October 4 - 2:00 amThe vehicle has been the most problematic from the start. The dealer was horrible at purchase and the service was deceptive and expensive. Buy the extended warranty it will help you out. Things that occurred three recalls, failed radiator resulted the failed electronic plugs, failed ABS sensor that resulted in the brakes prematurely wearing out thus had to buy new brakes for $650 for all new brakes not covered on warranty it is an maintenance item, and new brakes are nearly worn again dealer installed soft brake shoes. SUV bounces like a truck does not have a smooth ride. Gear shift rattles while driving.

Very pleased - 1999 Ford Expedition
By ACE - October 2 - 2:00 amWhen comparing used expedition to used yukon or tahoe, the expedition took the cake for comfort, usefull interior, and just plain more plush.
