Overview & Reviews
Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.
- Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.
- Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

Brake dust - 2004 Ford Expedition
By Sam Frank - December 19 - 12:33 pmMy major dislike of this vehicle is the excess accumulation of brake dust at the front wheel.

New Braking System - 2004 Ford Expedition
By Jimmy Odell - December 11 - 10:53 am3 weeks after the purchase I noticed a large amount of brake dust forming around the front wheels. When I called my sales rep., he told me that the new brake pads were softer and produced more brake dust. At 22000 miles I am having to replace the front brake rotors because they wear out with the pads. Instead of an annual cost of maintenence for brakes being around $200, its now going to be around $550. The sales rep. should have told me this. I see a lot of new Expeditions with the same brake dust buildup I like me they will be in for a shock when servicing their brakes. Still it seems the car industry doesnt make full disclores to the consumer.

Happy So Far.... - 2004 Ford Expedition
By ospers4 - November 27 - 3:38 pmI shopped all the full size domestic SUVs and two imports and I when the dust settled, I chose the Ford. There are compromises no doubt, but when you weigh all the factors that I thought were important in a vehicle like this: ride comfort, hauling capacity and flexibility, price & features I found the Expedition more than capable. The 5.4L provides adequate acceleration, not as good as the Dodge or Nissan, but on par with the GM & Toyota. Your not going to be winning any stop light drags, but this motor will pull hard and true. A lot of people complain about the mileage on this vehicle, but folks what do you expect? Its 2+ tons w/a V8, Ive average 18 on the highway @ 75mph.

Hints to Ford Motor Co. - 2004 Ford Expedition
By torquay - October 11 - 2:00 amThis is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. My overall opinion of this SUV is very positive. I use this vehicle in my business and tow a 14 ft cargo trailer frequently with great ease. Basicly this is my mobile office.

I love it! - 2004 Ford Expedition
By mcmy - October 9 - 2:00 amAt 52" I didnt think I could handle driving a vehicle this large. I was wrong. The running boards along with the adj. pedals were a must for me and have been great, as have the back sensors. The turn radius is that of an Explorer (at least the 2002 Explorer that I prev. owned) and is very manageable. The interior has lots of room for lots of kids and lots of stuff. The third row is wonderful as is the ability to fold down one of the seats. The large compartment next to the drivers seat is extremely useful. Two nagative aspects of the interior are: no storage pockets behind the front seats and no alt. compartment for sunglasses if you have a sunroof.

Loved my Escape, but my Expedition...Wow - 2004 Ford Expedition
By Beth Baker - October 9 - 2:00 amIve always enjoyed driving an SUV. So when I traded in my Jeep Cherokee for a Ford Escape, it was a definite upgrade. Three years later, I traded IT for my Ford Expedition. Needed the space with three Labrador Retrievers and Two Businesses.....The truck pulls our boat and you dont even know the boat is back there. The power fold- down 3rd row is sooooo convenient....and the space is more than ample. Comfort and ride are complimented regularly by family and friends......You cant go wrong! Ford creates a WONDERFUL SUV!

So far, so good.... - 2004 Ford Expedition
By DeanCT - October 5 - 2:00 amIve owned my Expedition for 2 months now. I havent had any major problems. Love the ride and was surprised how well it handles. Only issue Ive had so far is sometimes when running the A/C, I smell a burning smell. Brought back to the dealer and the deordorized the Heating Box. Well see if that helps. Another thing I noticed is that sometimes when Im driving with the radio off, I can hear a humming or high pitched noise. Not sure what it is, hopefully its nothing. Overall, I think the Expedition is great, I love driving it and it looks pretty good on the road.

Please fix the A/C - 2004 Ford Expedition
By rossjmak4 - September 28 - 2:00 amThere is something not too good about the A/C on these things. I live in AZ and it just doesnt perfore well in the heat. Tried service, but told A/C was redesigned to limit engine drag. Too bad, cuz the best thing I can say about the A/C is that it SUCKS! Other than that rest of vehicle is great, thus the higher ratings.

Room for 9 - 2004 Ford Expedition
By Tharpomaximus - September 27 - 2:00 amDrives great and plenty of room for passengers. A lot of standard features in the base model. Much more flexible seating than the Suburban or Yukon. Wife loves it.
