This Year's Model Updates:

Power output is improved for both Triton V8 engines on Ford's full-size sport-ute. Package content is added for both XLT and Eddie Bauer trim levels. Power-adjustable accelerator and brake pedals have been added. An updated Command Trac four-wheel-drive system allows automatic four-wheel-drive operation when required. Spruce Green, Harvest Gold, Tropic Green and Deep Wedgewood Blue replace Light Prairie Tan, Vermont Green, Light Denim Blue and Pacific Green on the color chart.

Pros:
  • Big, comfortable, and easy to drive. Good off-road, too.
Cons:
  • If you can reduce your seating needs by one (from nine to eight) the Dodge Durango is less expensive and easier to maneuver.

  • Nice SUV - 1999 Ford Expedition

Expensive to be worked on. Parts not cheap nor the tune up. Seems to hold up well up to about 80,000 miles, then lots of things go out under the hood. Overall a nice vehicle to drive, roomy but gas isnt cheap these days!

  • Fix Or Repair Daily - 1999 Ford Expedition

Bought this Expedition new in 07/1999. Rides great, lots of room, easy to drive, enough power to tow 23 boat w/ease. Electric system is absolutely horrible. All 3 wiper motors, 1 power window, and 1 heated seat have been replaced. Some fuel/air sensor on the engine was replaced. Now all of my warning lights on the dash i.e. 4x4, ABS, and airbag, have lit up. Dealer wants $270 to figure out why. Doesnt include how much to fix the problem. Ive spent more money repairing this 5 year old vehicle than I have on my 15 year old Toyota P/U. I will be trading this in for a Sequoia this week.

Very happy. Ford does have a better idea, and its the Expedition. Very stable, smooth ride. Only down side -- lacks power with the 4.6

  • Last Ford Ill Own - 1999 Ford Expedition

This is the first vehicle Ive ever bought an extended warranty for (gut feeling?). Two weeks after the purchase , the head gaskets had to be replaced. 30,000 miles later, this vehicle has had over $5,000 of work done on it- second set of head gaskets, auto transmission seals, you name it. Frankly, I cant believe what a POS this truck is. Like the title says, this will be the last Ford product I ever own.

  • No 3 spark plug on the triton engine - 1999 Ford Expedition
    By -

Our expedition was an ok SUV. Breaks were exspensive to replace and the engine light loved to come on and cost us money to get the SUV annalyzed only to find out they had no idea what was wrong. The car would run ruff and sputter after the rain and than dry out and the light would go off. We had it checked again before our family vacation and were told there was nothing wrong. Well the spark plug blew out on the Penn turnpike in route to our vacation destination. We found out it would be at least 3330.00 to fix it but it would take well over a week. We over payed for an Explorer and picked up the Expedition on the way back. Build a better product.

  • Dissappointed - 1999 Ford Expedition

We purchased this vehicle used and purchased the extended warrenty which paid for itself in no time. Weve had to replace the brake pads twice because of leaking rear seals, the rear axle, and the transfer case motor. The heated drivers seat broke. Now the alternator needs replaced and now the engine makes a funny clicking noise until it warms up. I think of my 16 year old Honda as more dependable and it has certainly cost us less in repairs over the last two years. They thought perhaps a $700 tune up would fix its problems. That was just two months ago. Ive had it, were car shopping!

mushy ride, lousy brakes, no cargo space, sways from side to side like a carnival ride, floats and bounces down the road. Expensive, quick to loose value, scratches too easy, body like a tin can, oversteers, feels like it leans too much while turning. Fast, 17MPG on highway at reasonable speed Wish I did not buy it

  • THE BEST TRUCK FOR THE BUCK!!! - 1999 Ford Expedition
    By -

The truck is great. Great power in the 5.4 motor. leather seats are the best.Got to have it on chrome rims. Ford rules. Gets all the girls. A real mans Suv. Lets be real, why pay 55,000 or more for the more expensive trucks when we know all automobiles breakdown and have problems.

  • 323playa XLT 5.4 is a great value - 1999 Ford Expedition
    By -

I think that the 5.4 XLT is great value. So far so good with reliability. (knock on wood).I got all the E.B. features on mine with the running boards, fog lights leather, third row ect. Gas isnt the best but it is a big suv and gas prices are high.I heard if u remove third row seat you could save a mile per gallon. So far i am happy with my expo.It runs very strong.
