This Year's Model Updates:

Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.

Pros:
  • Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

If your goal in life is to break the 1/4 mile super stock record, this is not the truck for you. What this V8 has is low end musle, brute force, stump pulling tourqe. Expect no better than 14 mpg average, highway drivers may get as much as 18mpg. Standard equipment on the XLT 5.4 4X4 includes rear A/C and heat, 125 watt sound and enough seating options for any family.

steering alignment impossible from 0 miles. Can not get car to steer com- fortable. 5.4 engine about 30-40 horses short. Gas mileage very poor. Front wheels dirty-up in 10miles. Plastic falling off inside. Drivers seat (AC/ heat installed) leather pulling loose at back of seat. Had repaired and pulled loose again. ouch.

The interior has a lot of room. Even with the large console in the middle I have a lot of hip room. The leg room is awsome. The ride is ultra smooth. The only negative if nay is the gas milage is mid average, but with even the smaller v8 I have plenty of power. The cockpit is also very quiet, not a lot of road noise. One of the best vehicles by far I have ever owned.

  • Better Reliability then any Toyota! - 2004 Ford Expedition

Edmunds - Lauds the Toyota Sequoia and states that they beat Ford and GM. Thats horse you know what. I had a 1997 Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer model that I put 185K miles on and it was the best vehicle that I have ever owned period. Ive owned Toyota and Honda cars and thought they were unreliable. Dont believe Edmunds review about the Toyota Sequoia. Why would I pay more for a Japanese vehicle that you could not prove to me was more reliable.

Our Expedition Has been the most comfortable auto ever to drive or ride in as a passenger. We have had to drive from Fl. to Maine quite a few times. Never have had any troubles even when we had 700 + miles on black ice and snow. The manuvering into parking etc. have never been a problem, all like a charm. We will trade for the same type and model again.

Ive had my Expedition for only 8 months now and I love it! I like its solid feel and roominess. Living in Hawaii, my family and I have been up to the mountains and down to the sea with complete satisfaction! Plan to keep it for a long time!

  • Rattles galore, brake dust king! - 2004 Ford Expedition
    By -

Outside appearance is nicer than the older style, sits lower and feels tighter on the road. It does, however have its share of rattles and squeaks, something totally unacceptable for a vehicle in this price range. Specifically, the dash, rear window, and tha passenger door window vibrates at highway speeds. Cant tell you what Ford uses on the front brake pads but its garbage! The brake dust on these trucks is brutal! Funny, they dont acknowledge it as being a problem. I changed pads with 10,000 miles, how bad is that? Finally, the middle row seat needs to recline with the outter two. Ever have kids fighting over seats Ford?

This vehicle is awesome! Has a very comfortable ride and plenty of room. Smooth ride and I love the independent suspension! I also love that third row seat, push of a button and it lays flat. Would recommend this vehicle to everyone who wants to ride in class!

  • SUV for eveything & towing - 2004 Ford Expedition

Ive had the Eddy for 19 months with no problems. I down graded from the Excurion with V10. We love the styling and options, it loaded without side curtains and Navigation. The seating is perfect for 8 adults. We have two kids 18 and 14. Camping and long trips are a breeze. We tow a 9,000 Travel Trailer, with little effort, but the Excution was better. But with the air dam on the Eddy its not problem.
