Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.

• Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.

• Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

  Brand new with vehicle, but I have been a long time Explorer owner. Already very disappointed with the mileage, and the fact that I was misled on the mpg mileage by the dealer. Other than that, it seems fine.

  Great all around vehicle. Gas mileage is the pits. Would expect full power front seats. Manual adjustment for seat back is a joke for a vehicle with this many features. Even given this problem, very happy so far.

  No power, engine makes lots of noise, however. Gas mileage is awful considering lack of power.

  I TRADED IN MY 1998 EDDIE BAUER EXPY, FOR A 2004 EDDIE BAUER EXPY, AND IT IS LIKE NIGHT & DAY! THE 2004 IS AWESOME! DRIVES AND HANDLES SUPERB! I LOVE IT, AND DOESNT EVERYONE ELSE WHO SEES IT!

  I researched all the full-size SUVs and in the end nothing delivered Expeditions combination of features, flexibility, and good handling. The fold-flat seat is critical for our family...we can take long trips with the seat folded down and the cargo area filled with luggage, then when we arrive we can fold the seat back up and cart around up to 8. Cant do that with any other full-size SUV, other than the Armada, but for some reason Nissan didnt offer a rear seat that is split in half.

  This is my 3rd Eddie Bauer 4x4 Expedition. My 1997 was such a pleasant change from driving Suburbans for 19 years. So much more comfortable. The 2003 was a disappointment due to the Advance Trac not being what wed hoped for. This 2004 is not quite 3 weeks old but I love it. We had a good idea about the gas mileage so that isnt a problem.

  I went from a conversion van to this and absolutely love it! I used to get stuck in the snow in my driveway and even in 2wd I dont. It handles great and I will never go to another vehicle. Best choice for me and the kids love it too!
