This Year's Model Updates:

Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.

Pros:
  • Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

A wonderful, comfortable, quiet SUV. A real pleasure to drive!

Both fog lights fell out of the front of car from normal driving never hit anything or ran into anything. At 17,000 miles the entire rear end of the car had to be replaced. The gears all stripped even though I brought it in for service just like I was supposed to,

Well Im perfectly happy with my Eddie Bauer 04. But right away I noticed there is a problem with the air conditioner. Come to find out alot of people with the year 04 have complained of the same thing. Apparently the service department knew of this, and I asked, dont the salesmen know of this, it would of determined if I bought the truck or not. They said yes, but that they wouldnt tell me or anyone else because they want to make the sale. Im going to be patient and wait and see if Ford comes out with another unit to install. It should be recalled pretty soon. Otherwise Ive always been happy with the Ford Expedition.

Im rough. My vehicle needs to be too. The expedition fits. Its not a pick-up but its just as good. You can haul groceries when its raining.

  • Solid Ride - Family Truck - 2004 Ford Expedition

I have had my 2004 Eddie Bauer Expedition for more than a year. It is a good solid vehicle that excels in bad driving conditions. My wife remarked that it is more comfortable for her as a passenger than my 1997 Explorer (that she said "bounced her around too much"). No issues or problems in the first year (Id expect nothing less).

  • Fun but Could be better - 2004 Ford Expedition

Fun vehicle. Great for a family of 5. It handles great, but could be better on the mechanics. Have had lots of problems with the driver seat, rattles in the dash, water leak from the rear window and a loud humming noise from the axle. The dealership has had the car for many issues. Gas mileage could be better, but what do you expect of a big truck. Even though we have had issues I would purchase another. Other cars same size do not compare with ride and room, also the deals and rebates Ford gives is much better than the rest.

This is my second Eddie Baurer Expedition. I was so psyched when I purchased it b/c I loved everything about the interior.- space between 2nd row captain chairs, 3rd row fold down seats, DVD. HOWEVER, I have had too many problems in the last year- new brakes at 23,000 miles, loud clicking sound going from 2WD to AWD(cant find the problem), over- hauled transmission(car was in the shop for 3 weeks I might add). Plus Ford doesnt give out loaner cars. Bummer considering all of the problems I have had in the last year. And we paid $45,000!!!

I traded in a Honda S2000 for the Expedition quite a change. The Expedition is much more practicable, but not quite as fun to drive. I like the interior design, the seats are comfortable and its very quiet on the road. We towed about 5,000 lbs from Tampa, FL to Whidbey Island, WA (about 3,500 miles in all). The truck did great, even over the 10,000 passes in Colorado. It was extremely comfortable the entire trip and we managed about 13.5 MPG.The only problem Ive had with the truck is the passenger side fuse panel shorted. I came outside one day and the brake lights were on - with no one in the car! Ford fixed it and its been a great truck since then. I paid $36,300 in TX.

Most comfortable and "fun-to-drive" vehicle weve owned. MPG is painful, but it is a large SUV with a large engine. Rattles/squeaks in the dash and headliner. Have taken to dealer many times to fix with little success. Noticed a howl in the rear- end at 12,000 miles, ended up having to replace the ring and pinion gearset in the rear differential. Serpentine belt went out at 19,000 miles. Have been less than happy with the problems weve had, but still like the vehicle.
