This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Ford Escape remains largely unchanged although the price has been lowered on the plush Limited model and certain appearance packages are now available on lower trim levels which, in effect, reduce the final price. Also, Chrome Yellow is no longer a color choice. To eliminate confusion, trim levels and option packages have been consolidated.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, carlike handling.
Cons:
  • Weak standard four-cylinder engine, bland interior design, small gas tank size limits range.

I am very pleased with my escape. It handles well in all weather situations. It is fun to drive and has been extremely reiable. I am a short person and I sit very comfortable in the vehical, I feel I can see the traffic very well when I am on the highway. I love the 6 disc CD player, I feel no matter where I am going I have escaped for a short period of time while I am driving......

  • Escape Limited - style and substance - 2004 Ford Escape

The 2004 Escape Limited provides a great combination of performance provided by an over 200 HP V6, reasonable fuel ecomony and impressive interior style and comfort. The Mach audio improves the interior ambiance through excellent sound. Put on your favoritie CD from the 6 disc in dash system and enjoy. If you drive a lot of miles like I do, in weather that can turn nasty (Michigan winters), the Escape is a great choice.

I purchased my Escape mainly because my daughter & grandson live 300 miles away and its all PA turnpike. I wanted something comfortable and economic to make the 5 hour trip (frequently) but big enough to haul everything that I must take. My Escape has carried tools, furniture (they recently purchased a house) and a lot of toys. I love my Escape, the ride is extremely comfortable, not truck-like, sporty and a real pleasure to drive

  • Best Small SUV - 2004 Ford Escape

Bought this care with 2 miles on it in November 2003. Ive enjoyed every minute with it. My wife who has a Sable always wants to use my Escape. I compared the car with a Jeep Liberty, Toyota Highlander, Hyundai Santa Fe, and a Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The Escape won hands down. Car has GREAT pickup and handles almost like a car. Even without the 4wd option, I had no problems getting around in the snow this winter.

I bought it with 3 miles on it and now have about 9000. No problems at all. Great on gas. Its easy to handle. I went from an 02 Ranger to this 04 Escape and I am glad I did.

  • My favorite things - 2004 Ford Escape

It handles like a car, parks so easily (and we live in the city),it has great pickup on the open road and feels like a solid luxury vehicle. The back seats lay completely flat and I have the space and utility of a good truck. My daughter is a new driver and I believe this 2004 Escape is the safest SUV on the road today.

  • I like it. - 2004 Ford Escape

I downsized from a Durango to the Escape, and I was worried about the change. But I was pleasantly surprised with the Escape. It is comfortable, zippy enough and it pulled my snowmobiles just fine. Some of the things Im not to fond of are: the turn ratio, the small gas tank, a lot of the controls are on the column levers and sometimes gets confusing (may just need time to adjust to them). Overall, I rate this truck pretty highly.

I first learned about the Ford Escape when I rented one to go on a long skiing trip to Vermont. I was immediately impressed. Not only did it easily fit 2 sets of adult skis, gear and luggage, but the driving performance was excellent. I drove from Pennsylvania to Vermont and it was like more like driving a car than an SUV. The Escape handles snowy and muddy terrain with no problems. I was hooked. I purchased one a week later. Absolutely love it. My other car is a Mercedes E320 4 Matic and thats been sitting in the garage lately. The Escape is really fun to drive.

  • Awesome - 2004 Ford Escape

We bought our Escape in December and we havent had a single regret. A month after we bought it it snowed over a foot of snow and we needed to drive over a mountain pass around 9500 feet. The car just plowed right through. There is a bunch of space in the back which is nice for cargo or friends. All in all the experience has been great. We are planning on getting another one in the future.

  • Great Little Truck - 2004 Ford Escape
    By -

This is my first SUV. I was looking for a car and the Escape caught my eye. I tried the Escape then the Explorer. I am 63" and my head rubbed the top in the Explorer, I had plenty of room in the Escape. The XLT model had all of the amenities that I wanted, not cluttered with useless things to jack up the price. I was sold after I drove it. It really drives like a Car AND Truck. I am very happy with it. On to get another soon, to replace my wifes car.
