Need more luxury when you Escape? For 2003, Ford will offer a new Limited edition that includes body-color trim, polished aluminum wheels, a reverse sensing system, a Mach audio system with six-disc CD changer, heated front seats and sideview mirrors, premium leather seats, front side airbags and an autodimming rearview mirror. The XLT can also be upgraded this year with an appearance package that includes special wheels, side step bars and body-color exterior trim. For all 2003 Ford Escapes, there are upgraded interior materials and fabrics, an available two-tone cabin color scheme, illuminated power window and lock switches and three new colors. Finally, the XLS 4WD with a four-cylinder engine and a manual transmission is dropped for 2003.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, car-like handling.
Cons:
  • Weak standard four-cylinder engine, small gas tank size limits range.

  • No regrets here - 2003 Ford Escape

I conducted a lot of research before committing to purchase the Escape. I drove all the comparable vehicles (Liberty, Saturn, Santa Fe, etc.) and the Ford had the best handling response, most fun to drive and met all my needs - V6, cargo space, appearance, mileage, 4WD, and so on. If anyone is interested in the compact SUVs, I would highly recommend the Ford Escape be considered. After test driving, I think youll find yourself wanting to make a purchase.

  • Love this one, will never buy any other - 2003 Ford Escape

I looked around quite a bit and drove several of the smaller SUVs, and narrowed it down to the Jeep Liberty and Escape. For interior room and exterior looks, the Escape won hands- down. I love this SUV and would do it all over again. Very little to complain about except it seems to drain the gas tank all too often. V6 engine is more than adequate and stereo is great too!

  • #1 Small SUV! - 2003 Ford Escape

This is a great vehicle that was built by Ford. As my dad worked for Ford for 38 years I will always drive a Ford. Before we bought the Escape I thought that it would be to small but it has enough room for us. The small suv has a lot of hp rated at 201 which is more than enough for an suv. This vehicle is only about two years old and should be a great seller for many years to come. And also farwell to the great selling Taurus.

  • We love this little guy! - 2003 Ford Escape

We are so pleased with this small SUV, our first but not last. We have already used it for a motel, love the seat warmers and extra handles for the older generation. Love the heating and air conditioning system too. So simple.

  • Love it! - 2003 Ford Escape

Have been researching this SUV for weeks, test drove many. The ride is very good, build seems excellent if a little spartan in the interior, but I like that and its what keeps the price down. Plus every one loves the way it looks, real head turner. Highly recommended.

  • Fun Car - 2003 Ford Escape

This is the first Ford car I have purchaed in my life. I was replacing a Nissan Quest Van built by Ford so, I decided to try the Ford. My main purpose was to buy a smaller car that gave me better gas mileage and still gave me the interior room and hauling capacity of my Van. The car has been great and trouble free although I am disapointed in the gas mileage and exterior sheet metal work, this car has been a pleasure to own and drive.

Car has great performance, handles very well. Fuel economy is average for class 20 mpg overall.Driven mostly on highways but has been on the beach in sand and in the snow, performed well on both. The only problems with vehicle were a dirty throttle body that was cleaned and a sensor was replaced for the back-up system.

  • Wonderful little SUV. - 2003 Ford Escape

With 10K miles on it, my wife and I are loving our new Escape: the combination of small size outside and great interior space, the fun driving experience, the "Mach" radio upgrade, etc. Build quality is excellent - no glitches at all. Ride is a good mix of car and truck -- not nearly as tippy as the little Toyota and Honda we tested. My only complaint is my own fault -- I ordered 2 wheel drive, not 4 wheel. The Escape can really accelerate quickly from a stand-still, but with only 2 wheels to transfer the power to the ground, I cant enjoy this as much as I would like.

THIS SUV IS THE BEST OF THE BEST. GREAT POWER FROM THE V6 ENGINE, AUTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, AND GREAT GAS MILEAGE, WOULDNT GIVE IT BACK FOR ANYTHING!

  • Best SUV - 2003 Ford Escape

You simply could not design a better SUV! Though it is called a mini SUV, you would never know from the inside, with plenty of leg and head room for all passengers. The features I feel set this car aside form the compedition were its great looks, interior space, great acceleration, and very responsive steering. It hanles much more like a car than a large sluggish SUV. It doesnt hurt you at the pump either, with about 21 mpg average in the city with the V6 engin. I can honestly say I dont have a single complaint after 6 months and 11,000 miles. If your in the mini SUV market stop looking and buy a Ford Escape! You wont regret it, I promise!
