Overview & Reviews
The 2004 Ford Escape remains largely unchanged although the price has been lowered on the plush Limited model and certain appearance packages are now available on lower trim levels which, in effect, reduce the final price. Also, Chrome Yellow is no longer a color choice. To eliminate confusion, trim levels and option packages have been consolidated.
- Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, carlike handling.
- Weak standard four-cylinder engine, bland interior design, small gas tank size limits range.

A good compromise overall ! - 2004 Ford Escape
By Dozing4dollars - February 18 - 10:00 amReally FUN to drive! It is peppy and handles great for an SUV. It feels more like a sedan/coupe in performance than an SUV at times. It is a good compromise between a viable SUV and a decent handling sport sedan/coupe. If you are looking for a stylish, entry level, around town, SUV with excellent acceleration and handling performance, 4WD and superior cargo capacity, you have found it! It is very easy to park and manuever. Just remember-it is an entry level, smaller size, SUV in its price point. You can load it up with options but you cannot change its basic build materials and quality a whole lot.

My First SUV - 2004 Ford Escape
By Barbara Ann - June 18 - 10:00 amI haVE ALWAYS had sport passenger cars so this was all new to me. I love driving up higher on the road now, and the handling on this SUV is great. It rides smooth, handles nicely. I am very satisfied with the truck and now I know I will never drive a passenger car ever again.

Alot of SUV for the Money - 2004 Ford Escape
By AJFalbo - December 17 - 2:00 amThis is a mighty-mite SUV. There is a lot of vehicle for the money. Handles well (even at higher speed - no roll), great pick up, a lot of feature and extras. I was surpriced at the engines agressiveness and pick up. The interior design gives you that truck "height feel" yet you dont feel that you have to climb a mountain to get in it. The tailgate is great, window goes up and if needed the whole gate lifts up, a feature that I wish I had had on my 98 Chevy Blazer.

96K and still hangin tough - 2004 Ford Escape
By Quinal - November 4 - 2:00 amI really like my Escape. Everything is fine with it.. I only have a couple of complaints. The road noise is a bit much at times and the seats are a hard. Other than that, everything is great. VERY Peppy, great value for the money. Drives like a car, not like a truck. I owned a Grand Prix GT before my Escape and Id race that GT with my escape anyday. Even with 96K miles.

Great SUV - 2004 Ford Escape
By shakey - March 30 - 2:00 amOwned it for almost a year and 60000km (37000 miles) with absolutely no problems to report. Great 4wd in snow. Unless you are very short, dont waste your money on side bars - all they do is get your pants dirty when you enter/exit the vehicle. My best fuel mileage has been 29mpg (imperial gallons) on the a long highway trip with cruise control at approx 65 mph. This vehicle has outstanding performance with the 200hp v6 duratec. I would recommend this vehicle.
