This Year's Model Updates:

Need more luxury when you Escape? For 2003, Ford will offer a new Limited edition that includes body-color trim, polished aluminum wheels, a reverse sensing system, a Mach audio system with six-disc CD changer, heated front seats and sideview mirrors, premium leather seats, front side airbags and an autodimming rearview mirror. The XLT can also be upgraded this year with an appearance package that includes special wheels, side step bars and body-color exterior trim. For all 2003 Ford Escapes, there are upgraded interior materials and fabrics, an available two-tone cabin color scheme, illuminated power window and lock switches and three new colors. Finally, the XLS 4WD with a four-cylinder engine and a manual transmission is dropped for 2003.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, car-like handling.
Cons:
  • Weak standard four-cylinder engine, small gas tank size limits range.

  • Bought New! Love it & its 2018! - 2003 Ford Escape

Bought my V6-Escape new in 2003! Wrecked 3xs; it is protected me; had to replace trans & 3 catalytic converters 2 yrs ago. It still handles well at age 14.1 yrs. It is my pickup for antiquing & gardening. At age 72, with arthritisI love the pullup handles & running boards. I use Mobil One oil now due 198000 high mileage.., its expensive but only change oil once/year & engine runs smoothly. It runs noisy on road. But, I may put Michelin tires on it & give it to my 16 yr old grand daughter. Ill buy another one new!

  • More Funner - 2003 Ford Escape

Just took the XLS-V6 for a spin at the dealership. Purchasing this Monday for the wife. FUN RIDE! Plenty of power on demand. Agility you would expect from a sedan. Not as rough of a ride as my F- 150. Nice styling. Smooth shifts from the tranny. Great pricing. Roomy interior, plenty of rear seat leg room. Overall, I think Ford is on to something with this one.

i didnt plan on buying an escape...but, im glad i did good mileage, a lot of room, excellent quality, and fantastic traction this vehicle does it all well other vehicles is considered were subaru wrx,vw jetta, and jeep wrangler the subie seemed low on content, the vw seemed to lack quality and reliability, and the wrangler was too impractical

  • Great Mini SUV - 2003 Ford Escape

It has been three months and 4,000 miles and i can`t find a thing that i don`t like about my Escape XLT Sport. It turns alot of heads when i drive by. The No Boundries roof rack and the sport wheels and tires give it the extra special touch of class along with the leather interior and the 6CD sterio. Averaged 23mpg on trips @65/70 mph. It handles great, rides great. Nothing more to say but>>>>> I LOVE IT.

  • Perfect City Car - 2003 Ford Escape

Great value for the money. This vehicle is perfect for urban driving in Washington, DC...its size and reverse sensing make parallel parking a breeze. Maneuverability in traffic is awesome. Build quality is first rate and on par with the Japanese and German makes. My only complaint is that seating comfort on long trips leaves a bit to be desired. Bought from Academy Ford in Laurel, MD. Dealer sales and service experience has been first rate.

  • Great Safe Vehicle - 2003 Ford Escape
    By -

I purchased my Escape new & have loved it from day one. With over 108K miles, it still has a lot of power & handles very well. The vehicle is very roomy, but is not difficult to maneuver like larger SUVs. I was just involved in a serious accident while driving my Escape and I have to commend it from a safety perspective. I was sitting at a red light and was hit from behind by a utility truck traveling at a high rate of speed. I was then pushed into the full sized truck in front of me. Unfortunately the Escape is a total loss, but I "escaped" with only a broken toe and a few bruises. I am very impressed with the overall safety of this vehicle and would certainly recommend it for any family.

  • The best SUV - 2003 Ford Escape
    By -

This has to be the best Suv. I have the 2003 Ford Escape 4x4 Limited fully loaded. The color is True Blue with Tan Leather interior. Of all the Suvs I test drove this one handles the best and has alot of pick up. It also has the most opitions in its class.

  • Let It Snow! - 2003 Ford Escape
    By -

After driving a rented Escape for a week in Colorado I was hooked! It was comfortable (which for me is very important, I am short and this is the first vehicle that I can drive and not feel like the steering wheel and dash are in my chest),peppy, and quiet. My driveway is 200 feet long, uphill to get out in the morning and with even an inch of snow I was never able to get out with my minivan. Now, even with 8" the Escape doesnt even struggle, it just plows right through to the top! All though I did tons of research prior to buying, I went with the Escape and Im so glad I did!
