The 2004 Ford Escape remains largely unchanged although the price has been lowered on the plush Limited model and certain appearance packages are now available on lower trim levels which, in effect, reduce the final price. Also, Chrome Yellow is no longer a color choice. To eliminate confusion, trim levels and option packages have been consolidated.
- Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, carlike handling.
- Weak standard four-cylinder engine, bland interior design, small gas tank size limits range.

Safe, Reliable and Fun - 2004 Ford Escape
By escapeowner - June 26 - 10:00 amThis exterior and interior of vehicle is very sharp in appearance. It is fun to drive, and has nice safety features, which gives one a sense of security when driving. Cargo space is more than needed.

Its the biggest bang for the $$$ in its class. Three of my customers that rode in my Escape this past year were very impressed with it and asked my oppinion of the vehicle. All three of them were so impressed that they bought one and all 3 are very happy with their Escapes.

By DandyDon - April 11 - 2:00 amNice riding SUV and very easy to drive. It has good pickup and I really like the backup sensing device. Gas economy is good and it holds four adults comfortably. I added a low profile antenna and brushed aluminum running boards.

By RobNJ - April 11 - 2:00 amIm new to the SUV market. I traded in a Ford Taurus which was loaded with options and a great car, but was looking for something different. I guess I have to get use to driving an SUV. The Escape handles well, but a little disappointed with some features and interior design.For instance, the shift on the column, havnt had one in years. It gets in the way since it sticks out so far and you cant see what gear your in when the wheel is turned.

By RochesterNY - April 1 - 10:00 amIt looks and handles great. It has a lot of pick-up and has a little extra when you go to pass someone on the highway. We love the interrior space, that was a big selling point. My Wife and I disagree on the comfort. She has found the seats to be very hard and somewhat uncomfortable, but it does not bother me. We drove several other Small SUVs on the market, Honda C-RV, Jeep Liberty, and the Santa Fe. None could match power, pick-up, handling and the over all comfort of the Escape.

By Dozing4dollars - February 18 - 10:00 amReally FUN to drive! It is peppy and handles great for an SUV. It feels more like a sedan/coupe in performance than an SUV at times. It is a good compromise between a viable SUV and a decent handling sport sedan/coupe. If you are looking for a stylish, entry level, around town, SUV with excellent acceleration and handling performance, 4WD and superior cargo capacity, you have found it! It is very easy to park and manuever. Just remember-it is an entry level, smaller size, SUV in its price point. You can load it up with options but you cannot change its basic build materials and quality a whole lot.
