The 2004 Ford Escape remains largely unchanged although the price has been lowered on the plush Limited model and certain appearance packages are now available on lower trim levels which, in effect, reduce the final price. Also, Chrome Yellow is no longer a color choice. To eliminate confusion, trim levels and option packages have been consolidated.

• Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, carlike handling.

• Weak standard four-cylinder engine, bland interior design, small gas tank size limits range.

  116,000 and still going strong - 2004 Ford Escape

  We bought our Escape brand new in Feb 04. It has been a great little SUV - our first experience with an SUV. Only had cars or PUs before. Ive read some of the problems other people have had and we have not had ANY. Only have replaced tires, brakes and battery (usual stuff). We have one problem with the sunroof sometimes sticking so we do not open it anymore. Have had all maintenance done at dealer & we think that makes a difference. Now at 116,000 - hope to go up to 200,000. We average 21-23mpg - best on trip was 26. I bought a 07 Civic to drive to work & have had more problems with it than this Ford! We use the Escape every weekend for shopping & around town.

  This auto is built strong like a truck but handels next to a car. Mileage is excellent [sometimes 30 mpg].Small engine will rev up for take off from stoplight. Power good for driving but not for pulling. Get bigger engine for this job. Good for small family [4 people].Price is excellent.

  Ford Escape is the best car. There is however one exception, the gas milage. It is like a big SUV. It is supposed to be compact

  Purchased a 2004 Escape, Love it! Just the right size, great power and versatility. I would recommend it to everyone and have! Ford hit the bullseye!

  Very nice car for my family and for me to drive to work. Weve taken it four time to disneyland thats a 500 mile drive for us and it went great.

  I love my car!! I bought my Escape with 150,000. miles I now have 215,000 and im still driving. i have only had scheduled maintenance, tires, and one alternator put on . Shes been AWESOME** Ford did great with this one.

  This has been an excellent vehicle despite I have to fill the tank up every week. Only get about 230 miles per tank out of a 15 gal tank. Thats a low 15mpg. Otherwise, I love it!

  I purchased my Ford Escape after owning a Jeep Cherokee. I loved it....loved how it handled, looked, and performed overall. We moved to California in 2001 and drove it from Florida to California with my 2 Labrador Retrievers in the back...with the rear seat down of course..very comfortable for them. Drove it back to Florida when we recently moved back East. I always get compliments on it, especially the color...

  I love my new Escape. The gas mileage is ok but not bad. I love the 6 CD stereo. Its great when your on the road and cant find a good radio station. I havent had it very long (2/04) but I havent had any problems so far.

  We have only had our Escape a month but we love it. We were going to get a Kia Sorento but the local dealer was unwilling to negotiate price. We went next door to the Ford dealer (same owner) to complain about the Kia managers attitude. While there we desided to test drive the Escape. I was very suprised by how comfortable it is to drive. The large cargo capacity for a small SUV has come in handy already.
