The 2004 Ford Escape remains largely unchanged although the price has been lowered on the plush Limited model and certain appearance packages are now available on lower trim levels which, in effect, reduce the final price. Also, Chrome Yellow is no longer a color choice. To eliminate confusion, trim levels and option packages have been consolidated.

• Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, carlike handling.

• Weak standard four-cylinder engine, bland interior design, small gas tank size limits range.

  I really enjoy the handling and the comfort of the 04 Escape. It is good in both the snow and on clear highways and is powerfull enough with the /Duratec V-6 for the highway to say with the flow of traffic or pass when necessary. Engaging the 4 wheel drive is easy and quick.

  This is the first SUV that I have owned and I absolutely love it. I have had the vehicle for 7 months and have driven over 12,000 miles. No problems experienced to date. I did a lot of comparison shopping and can safely say that the Escape gives the most standard features for the money. Its one of the best looking compact SUVs too!

  I have had my Escape for 7 days, it is fun to drive and Ford has taken time to position the switches in an easy to reach area for short people. It is also easy to get in an out of for someone small. Mine has the 7 speaker audio system and there is a big difference in sound between this one and the standard audio system with 4 speakers. I also enjoy the moon roof, fully powered and very easy to use. One thing I would like to see changed is adding lights on the vanity mirrors. This is a perfect size SUV for the ladies but it needs the added feature of lights.

  This exterior and interior of vehicle is very sharp in appearance. It is fun to drive, and has nice safety features, which gives one a sense of security when driving. Cargo space is more than needed.

  The Escape delivers Style, Comfort & Performance comparable to SUVs made by BMW & Mercedes for about half the price of those high end models. Its the biggest bang for the $$$ in its class. Three of my customers that rode in my Escape this past year were very impressed with it and asked my oppinion of the vehicle. All three of them were so impressed that they bought one and all 3 are very happy with their Escapes.

  Nice riding SUV and very easy to drive. It has good pickup and I really like the backup sensing device. Gas economy is good and it holds four adults comfortably. I added a low profile antenna and brushed aluminum running boards.

  I picked up a 2004 Escape XLT after test driving a CRV and Liberty. Four words - I love this vehicle!! The CRV is about the same in dimensions however feels cramped and has a terrible 4WD system. The Liberty is too boxy the ride is bumpy and the fuel mileage is terrible. The Escape feels solid is very quick for an SUV, engine sounds throaty, and is extremely comfortable! The controls are logically placed, the seats fold completely flat and the optioned 235 tires along with the 4WD system sticks to snow like dry pavement. The moonroof is large and the cabin feels very spacious unlike the CRV and Liberty. You cant go wrong with this SUV!!!
