The Ford Escape continues into 2006 with only minor trim and color changes.

Cons:
  • Four-cylinder models feel unrefined at high rpm, so-so interior materials quality.

  • Not a Ford Escape, it is a Mad Max Desert Ship - 2006 Ford Escape

My goodness people, I wont ever get rid of this SUV. Cali and the Mojave desert several times, 206,000 miles and still strong. I feel like its a member of my family. You cannot go wrong. Meat and potatoes, but so reliable you just cannot go wrong. I do not want a new one. Ill just get a factory engine and transmission replacement.....if it ever so happens I need it. It will probably outlast my body. lol.

I absolutely love my Escape! I Bought it a year ago with 140k and it has honestly been the most reliable car Ive ever had! It now has 175k and is a champ, the 3.0L engine really sips gas for a V6! It runs like its brand new still. The V6 engine is very peppy! It gets up and goes when you need it to! Dont let the FWD fool ya either, Its pulled out of mud ruts with no issues! Right now I use it for commuting back and fourth to college and I honestly could not of made a better choice. I know the Escape has a lot of bad reviews...its basic maintenance and you will be fine. I use synthetic oil every 3k, I get my transmission fluid changed every 20k because of its age. Love my Escape!!!

This car is amazing. Ive driven a few SUVs, but this one takes the cake. I love it. It has been a very reliable car for me and my family for the last 5 years, and its still going. Gas is OK for an SUV, but its an SUV...I wouldnt expect amazing mileage. Ive had no problems with it, no repairs needed other than a turn signal bulb. It has 123K miles on it. Spark plugs are due but thats it. It is very solid, very nicely designed, no complaints at all. As far as the negative reviews go, there can be a lot of situations leading to the problems (Previous rental, poor care, etc.) I have had none of these problems, inspect your car before you buy. Thank you Ford!

  • I love my 2006 Ford Escape! - 2006 Ford Escape

Ive really enjoyed it since buying it in 9/09. Its easy to drive, excellent visibility (dont need to sit on something to see where youre going), and has been pretty reliable. I also like that it has flat surfaces on the dash, on the console, and on the rear bumper, where I can set my coffee when Im loading and unloading (along with a drink holder, of course)! That makes it very convenient. Also, Ive noticed the fuel economy is a lot better when I use a higher octane gas. Overall, I really like my Escape!

Bought new 7/06, 0% financing on $20K. Get 25mpg with the 4, sit up high for safety, park in compact spaces, room for all kinds of toys and junk. Have slept in it more than once. Dependable and faultless performance. No, its not for towing big boats or taking turns at 50. I have had it over 100 in the desert and it holds steady. I have owned 50 cars and this is in the top 5. Used car buyers - ALWAYS check for body and frame damage, NEVER buy a car that has been wrecked, they WILL NOT run right ever again, trust me.

At 88k miles I love my Sonic Blu Escape. It has been everything I had hoped. Whether going confidently through snowy Pennsylvania winters, or carrying a canoe to a lake, or toting our college students stuff, or hauling yard/tree trimmings, it has done it all comfortably.

Purchased the 4 cylinder AWD to maximize economy and still have the ability to drive in bad weather. It works very well. I understood its limitations and accept them - its not a speedster or a land yacht.

  • Great small suv - 2006 Ford Escape

I have had this 2006 Escape for about a month. I am 6 275 lbs and I fit just right in it. The new Duratec engine will get into traffic with no problem. So far I like it a lot and I like the gas mileage too.

  • NO COMPLAINTS - 2006 Ford Escape

Had 29,0000 when I purchased it & cross my fingers, so far, I am very please with the car. yes a little lound interior, but I would say that is to be expected, because it is not the heavier, big SUV. It has 33<186 miles now, so I hope it keeps on to be the reliability and quality that I have enjoyed the short time I have drove it back and forth to work, everyday

  • Very Good - 2006 Ford Escape

I have driven the vehicle for three months. It is really fun to drive. It is easy to get into and out of. The mileage around town is 18 to 20 mpg. On a trip from Jefferson City, MO to Dayton, OH and return it averaged a little over 25 mpg. The vehicle, for a small SUV, has lots of room and the rear seats fold down for hauling larger items. The engine has plenty of power.
