This Year's Model Updates:

The 2014 Ford Escape undergoes minor adjustments to its feature availability. Notably, a rearview camera and Sync are now standard on all trim levels. The Titanium trim no longer gets the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine as standard, though Ford has dropped its price as a result. The SEL trim level has been discontinued.

Pros:
  • Good performance and fuel efficiency
  • Many high-tech features
  • Comfortable seating.
  • High-quality cabin
  • Agile handling
Cons:
  • Frustrating MyFord Touch electronics interface.

  • Not As Good As Expected ! - 2014 Ford Escape

Having owned Fords previously with little to no trouble, this Escape has not been as good. The ride is very jittery, but it does handle well with good brakes. The AC has quit working twice with no help for the dealer since he could not replicate the problem. Now the rear hatch panel/handle has broken and is going in for repair. The gas mileage is not anywhere close to the window sticker, I actually get better mileage from my Mustang ! This is not going to be a long term keeper but still too new to trade and lose our shirt. Our Escape is one year old with approx. 10,000 miles.

Purchased a used 2014 with a little over 14k miles. I had issues from early on but Im hopeful once things are reconciled it will all be ok. Transmission seems to stall between shifting, AC stoped working, Gas mileage is horrible...Im getting 15.3 highway/city it moved up from the 14.9. Automatic lights was killing my battery. Battery replaced Autolights out and battery is still draining. Im hopeful.

We just hit the six month mark & the the car has been back for service twice in the past 2 weeks. We thought it was recalled, then were told our car was not made at the LA factory or in the month for the recall. Had oil change+ tires checked & rotated while there. The very next week the lift gate handle came off into my hands and the inside tailgate panel was loose from the right hand side to the middle. Back it went for service. Now another week later and the tire pressure light is indicating a problem. My previous car was a beloved 2010 Jeep Liberty that NEVER had service other than oil change. I really regret trading such a great vehicle in on this Escape which I now believe is a lemon.

  • Not a fan of the 14 Escape - 2014 Ford Escape

Bought a 14 AWD Escape Titanium on 9/4/13. The pros is the the handle and pickup of the vehicle. Have almost 17K on the vehicle. It is very good from a handle perspective going around turns and curves and the pickup is above average. I would not purchase one again becuz 1) the moonroof is a soft cover, I like to roll down my windows and the cover flaps unless I roll it all the way back 2) the air pressure in tires keeps going low and it doesnt tell which tire is low 3) already had the GPS replaced at 2500 miles 4) the gas mileage took approx 12K before getting 21 mpg 5) the voice recognition is extremely sensitive and is frustrating 6) AC/heat doesnt return to same level when turned on

  • 2014 Ford Escape 2.0 L turbo - 2014 Ford Escape

I have been disappointed with my Escape since I bought it. I currently have 3000 miles on it and have had it for 5 months. I did extensive research and test drives before picking this car over the Rav 4, CRV and Rogue. One of the main reasons I wanted this car was for the 2.0 L Turbo engine. I have had numerous quality issues. The sync system is over complicated and doesnt work properly with my phone. There is wind noise in the door, the locks freeze on the driver side and I cant get in except through the passenger door. The remote stater works only intermittently. The gas mileage is horrible-17 to 19 mpg. It is winter and the engine is barely broken in so it should get better.

  • research usability before buying and 2013 model comments..wish we did - 2014 Ford Escape

We bought a 2014 Escape and noticed the following:
    - no driver storage for wallet, change or anything ...only 2 cup holders when not being used
    - glove box is out of reach even for a tall driver and offers no storage capacity
    -transmission blocks dash controls
    - MPG :/
    - Center console is useless as a 1.5 foot narrow fishing hole that houses the USB connection half way down
door panel cup holder is non-functional as its too narrow to fit our drinks
some interior plastic is not wearing well
    firm narrow seats
