This Year's Model Updates:

Quadrasteer is no longer available on 2WD models, standard wheel sizes have been bumped up to 17 inches, and on extended and crew cab models; a power sunroof that includes HomeLink and a deluxe overhead console are new options. Chevy takes a step backward this year with the return of rear drum brakes, as opposed to last year's four-wheel disc setup. A gasoline/electric hybrid model is also introduced in limited quantities this year. Basically a "mild" hybrid, the system provides no power boost, but does allow for automatic engine startup and shutdown at stops. This truck also comes with four 120-volt AC power outlets and is the only Silverado with rear disc brakes this year. The hybrid truck is only available in Western states and Florida.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended and crew cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features, slick hybrid electric option.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

  • The best in a long time - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Having owned many different vehicles and brands, i.e, Honda, Ford, Nissan, VW, Lincoln, to name a few. I can honestly say I have never been more excited about a vehicle as I am about the Silverado Crew Cab. I needed to replace the 96 Towncar and purchased a Honda Element for the wife. Also an excellent small SUV. I look forward to driving the Crew Cab Silverado. I traded a 99 F250 V10 in on it. I hated the Ford. Had a 94 F150 and like it as well as a 1998 Silverado. I thought I would go back and try the Chevy again. I really like it.

I Own two Chevrolet trucks that are used in my contracting business. The quality and dependebility Of Chevrolet trucks is better than the Toyotas and Fords that I have owned. Chevrolets Advertisement " like a rock" is very true. I used a 1992 Silverado in my business for eleven years without requiring anything but routine maintenence.

  • I still love this truck! - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Wow! Three years later and I still love everything about this truck. I love the handling, the sleek/tough look (mine is black). Can a truck be your bestfriend? Mine is, its does what I need when I need, and is always willing to give me a lot more, if needed. This truck is one of the funniest vehicles I have driven.

  • Best Truck Made - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I have owned Fords, Dodges and a couple of different import trucks in the past, but my 2005 Chevy is the most confortable and reliable of them all. I live in a small town in Southwest Texas, in the middle of nowhere, and a dependiable vehicle is a must. With my Chevy, I have peace of mind about getting on the road, which Im on a lot as you can tell by the milage on my truck, also after breaking my back while in the military and having four major back surguries since, the comfort is next to none. The fuel economy is, in my opinion better than Ford or Dodge. Also, down here, the OnStar feature really makes you feel secure and the XM is great.

This truck rides better than most sedans I have owned. Very quiet inside, handles like a dream w/ the four wheel steering. Excellent manuvering through parking lots and tight spaces. I would put this truck against any import.

  • Chevy Z71 1500 Silverado - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The truck really is built well! The center console is setup perfectly for a work truck, with more storage than any truck on the market. However, the seating is more luxurious and far more comfy than the Titan. The Z71 package offers up everything you would want to add-on after the purchase. This is my first new Chevy, although I had driven an 83 for awhile. Great price - Out the door for 27K, 3.99% financing, and 3K cash rebate. Super dealership with great people and a knack for customer service.

  • Go to the Mall Work Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Paid $12K in 1998 for a 4 cyl Ranger, $13K in an all day marathon deal in 2003 for a 4 cyl Frontier and $14K come and get it deal for a 2005 V6 Silvarado W/T. All had air and manual transission. Absolutely no comparison. The Chevy is full size and can comfortably cruise down the interstate with enough power to get around in traffic. Its fun to drive and its nimble for its size. Yes, its dated and gets about 3 mpg less, but as a comparable cost if not cheaper alternative to a compact 4 cyl work pickup, you just cant beat it. The classic truck feel worked out over the last 50 yrs just puts a smile in your face. Grandpa got it right.
