Overview & Reviews
Quadrasteer is no longer available on 2WD models, standard wheel sizes have been bumped up to 17 inches, and on extended and crew cab models; a power sunroof that includes HomeLink and a deluxe overhead console are new options. Chevy takes a step backward this year with the return of rear drum brakes, as opposed to last year's four-wheel disc setup. A gasoline/electric hybrid model is also introduced in limited quantities this year. Basically a "mild" hybrid, the system provides no power boost, but does allow for automatic engine startup and shutdown at stops. This truck also comes with four 120-volt AC power outlets and is the only Silverado with rear disc brakes this year. The hybrid truck is only available in Western states and Florida.
- Roomy extended and crew cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features, slick hybrid electric option.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

All- weather sports truck. - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By oleh k - February 27 - 1:43 amIt is an extremely high performance pickup with 3/4 ton bed capacity, 7500 lb towing capacity, and great handling. Getting a baby seat in the back is easy because the doors open in opposite directions. It doesnt pretend to be anything its not- it is a sport truck that does it all.

Great pickup, strong drivetrain - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By RyanZ - January 28 - 1:26 pmExcellent truck. Good strong drivetrain with acceptable fuel mileage. Useability is great with the longbed. A standard cd player would have been nice, but its a good transportation truck that is great on long trips. Cant wait for deer season. Gas mileage will increase as time goes on and mileage piles on.

Love my truck. - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Michael Rix - January 11 - 5:10 pmI prefer the"old" style interior. I think the space ship interiors of the titan and f150 are what turn me back to Chevy. Totally satisfied.

Great Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Bo - November 23 - 3:26 pmThis is my 3rd Chevrolet truck, and the best by far. Previous were an 89 that I drove to 125K miles, then a 1996 to 165K miles, and finally this one. Could not be more pleased with the comfort, performance, and convenience. Plus, I am seeing 18 to 19 mpg if I keep my speed around 70 on the highways.

Great Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By mmaher - October 3 - 5:06 pmI have owned several different makes of trucks (Ford,Dodge and Toyota) and I am very impressed with the Silverados performance, style and handling. It is a great vehicle in all areas including price. My last truck was a S10 ZR-2 but the Silverado is a much better vehicle and gets the same gas mileage as the 4.3 V6 in my S10. Can not say enough good things about this vehicle! This is THE best truck I have ever owned! PS my other truck I still own is a Toyota!

Chevy work truck - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Rtom45 - August 25 - 5:56 pmI had a problem with an coolant leak shortly after I got the truck. Dealership found a cut hose and replaced it. Had a condensation/fogging problem because a "gate" wasnt opening. That took longer, but we found the problem and fixed it. Truck is straight forward and functional. I would have loved standard transmission. Chose this over Nissan, Toyota, Ford, and Dodge.

My little work truck - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By driftin2 - August 25 - 8:46 amI have owned a number of Chevy shortboxes over the years & they only seem to get better with each year. Would like to see more options on the two doors though. Like bigger engines & leather buckets. I plow snow with my truck & it works like a 3/4 ton.

2005 Silverado Extended Cab - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By TONY - August 3 - 7:46 amBest truck that I have ever owned. The z71 suspension gives a great ride. The climate control system much better than the previous truck I owned. There were no water leaks and no issues with the quality of the truck.

My First Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By blippo - May 12 - 12:33 pmThis is my first experience with owning a pick-up truck of any kind. Ive owned my Silverado for a few months now. The first thing I noticed with the Silverado when I drove it the first time is it drove like a car. I was surprised how well it rode. It has all the room I need with the extended cab. I took it off-road briefly and it drove well. So far, I am very satisfied with it.
