Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

  • Big Disapointment - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Have always bought Gm product and the have always treated me well but this thing is a joke. The mileage is a joke at 15 mpg. I get 21 from a full size truck and Tahoe! As for the towing capacity it is the same as my wifes Escape. What a joke! The thing is falling apart. The roof leaks, the headliners and carpet are shot! Cheap plastic that breaks with little effort. The front turn signals keep getting corrosion in the plugs and have to be cleaned month after month. I do not abuse my vehicles in any way. This thing is junk!

Purchased in February 2010 (actually Oct/09) was told delivery would be 6-8 weeks, it arrived in 17 weeks. Love the trucks styling, and comfort but, have had rear spring bushings replaced, wiper transmission replaced, wiper switch replaced and front wind- shield re-sealed. Still have a "clunk" noise when turning corners, all before 2,400 km. 4,100 km now but gas mileage is poor, 17 city, 21 highway [mpg]. I drive it nice not hard.

Love the looks, interior is very comfortable, mileage isnt bad for a v8 with 4WD. Especially like the V8 power. Have had no problems at all in this first year of ownership.

Bought new Aug. 09 with V8 and 4WD. Ive had more compliments on this vehicle than on any Ive ever owned. V8 power is great and mileage isnt bad.Very comfortable to drive, my ONLY complaint in over a year of ownership is interior wind noise at highway speeds. Ive had no problems at all so far.

  • Wimpy gas burner. - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

This I5 engine is terrible. It runs like a 4 cylinder and burns gas like a 6 cylinder. The truck itself is generally comfortable and somewhat stylish, but it really needed a better engine and something that could get mileage closer to the estimate on the sticker. Ive owned since it was new and Ive actually had no major problems, but Im tired of fighting the fuel bills and the lack of power.

I have had my Colorado for almost a year now. And so far I havent had any problems besides the fuel economy.

This is my second Colorado Z71 Crew Cab. Loved my 2004, so bought another one. Based on my research, it has the best mileage in its class. Ride is great for a truck. People often comment on the nice ride. Back seat is very roomy.

As far as Im concerned the thing is an underpowered piece of overpriced plastic junk. I have always been a Chevy guy, but this is the end of my Chevy days. My last one was a 2000 sonoma and I thought the plastic was too much. Now I go to open the console and its like lifting a piece of plastic milk jug, flimsy crap! For sale not driving it junk, junk, junk.

My Colorado now has 60,000 miles on it, The clutch is gone, the 4 wheel drive just quit working I have rusty water in my oil. The ignition has a mind of its own. The heater works when IT wants to work. Overall BAD TRUCK! too much money not enough truck.

  • Colorado Rocks - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

This truck was the most dependable vehicle Ive ever owned. I put 125,000 miles on it and had almost no trouble. I just traded it in and feel like I lost part of the family.
