Awesome Avalanche - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By jrwjr99 - May 8 - 6:43 amThis vehicle although very fun to drive and extremely versatile, is one to keep in the garage until needed for work or play. Not the best communting vehicle because of the mileage. But all things being said this is a really fun truck to have if you have a family.

Would get another one - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Jim - February 17 - 7:53 amThis is a great truck. Ive carried a Harley in the back and pulled a 10K travel trailer through the mountains (not the same time). The plus side of the setup is your friends dont look at it as a truck when they move even though it has all the ability. The only gripe is the 8.1L engines oil consumption is high. One qt in 3K miles when new, three qts in 3K now. Chevy claimed in 2002 one qt in 100 miles was considered high anything less is acceptable. Big engine is great for towing, stomp on the pedal and she jumps even at 70mph. Down side is MPG 11 around town 14 on the highway at 75mph. I would replace with same truck smaller V8 but right now Ill drive it until the wheels fall off.

Fun gas guzzler - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By ivan - February 1 - 10:00 amUp to this point the Avalanche has been a unique fun experience. I traded in a Ford Expedition and dont regret it. The extra acceleration and smoother than expected ride of my new chevy is the highlight of my switch. I added 22 inch wheels and the truck really looks sharp and aggressive with a menacing look and stance. The Avalanche makes you feel secure and in control on the busy highways of the big congested city.

Love my Avalanche - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Frank C. - December 28 - 12:58 amI bought it new & now have 74,000 miles. I love this truck & would buy another. The major mechanicals engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc., no problems, however, the rear axle bearings had to be replaced at one point, which is the only problem that I have had with the truck. Very reliable & can always count on it. Very comfortable & smooth for a truck. Very useful, like the midgate & the rubber lined bed.

Love It! - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Cruisin - November 1 - 10:00 amMy husband and I have had our Avalanche for 5 months and we love it. It handles great on the road, very smooth, has room for our children and we can still carry everything in back.

Comfort and style - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By vtfatdaddy - October 19 - 6:11 pmI love my truck. Its ultra comfortable, even for several people on long rides (I drove two other adults and my two young sons in car seats on a 9 hour trip and no one complained.) I have the Z71 package, but it still rides much smoother than a truck, and because it sits a little lower I prefer it to the ride of my wifes Tahoe. I love the versatility of this truck. I can pack in my whole family and go buy anything I need at the Home Depot, or haul a load of wood or whatever I want. I love the look of the Avalanche, wonderfully odd styling stands out from the crowd. Havent had any mechanical problems whatsoever with the truck. Interior is "no frils" but very functional.

Used Truck - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By teak - August 25 - 12:22 pmI purchased a 2002 Avalanche a few months ago. I must say, WOW! I absolutely love it. Probably the most comfortable vehicle I have ever had. Thankfully the previous owner was very very nice to it. Great versatility for a full size truck. I absolutely am getting a newer Avalanche for my next vehicle. Dont believe what you read, this truck is absolutely great.

Versatility and Comfort - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By jcrwv - May 19 - 1:03 amGas prices aside, the 327 cid avalanche tows great, hauls great, and looks great. This vehicle is the real hybrid. Some ongoing issues with the A/C remain but not a significant negative as yet.

More Than Satisfied - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Mike Noble - May 14 - 8:14 amMy Avalanche has proven to be everything that I expected. All of the cargo space is very useful, we can fit our 3 kids in back easily, it gives a very smooth ride, and the gas mileage is better than I had expected (16-17 religiously). The back seat is roomy enough for 3 adults to sit in.

Great Truck But Has Problems - 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
By enforcer_2006 - March 14 - 1:45 pmI bought my Avalanche used. It is a 1500 Z-71 with 93K miles every option imaginable. I love the way it drives and is really good in snow and ice. The problems I am experiencing is the water pump, steering gear box, and Bilstein shocks have all just gone out at the same time!!! Talk about dumping some money into it all at once. Another problem is that when you drive the truck down the interstate and the wind is blowing, and it does not have to be blowing hard, you get blown all over the interstate. It is gets so bad that I actually take the long way to work using backroads when it gets windy. When I accelerate hard, I get a metalic sound coming from the engine and Chevy cant diagnose it.
