Overview & Reviews
Audi's entry-level sedan and wagon are all new for 2002. Along with a redesigned body structure and new sheet metal, the new A4 receives a variety of changes to make it sportier. It is motivated by either a 170-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four or a completely new 3.0-liter 220-horsepower V6, which can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Making its debut this year for non-quattro models is a continuously variable transmission (CVT), also known as multitronic. An in-dash six-disc CD changer and a dual-zone auto climate control top the standard features list.

Drives nice but unrekiable - 2002 Audi A4
By plewis100 - June 21 - 2:00 amIve had my 2002 A4 Quattro for one year. On the plus side, the car is fun to drive, comfortable and looks great. However the negatives quickly overwhelm any positive aspects of this car. In the first year the car was immobilized for 29 days at the dealer waiting for a new ignition coil. In addition Ive had 2 radios replaced and many minor electrical problems. Ive lost all confidence in reliability of the car and prefer our 5 year old, 88,000 mile Subaru Outback for longer trips.I hate to think what problems Ill have after the warranty expires. I doubt if I will ever buy another Audi.

Get the 3.0 - 2002 Audi A4
By audilove - April 23 - 1:59 pmWell it looks like I see a trend here. The 1.8T seem to have reliability issues while the 3.0 seem to run strong. I have owned mine for a year and love it. Its my second Audi, my first being an 80Q that I put 300k miles on. I will say that these cars require your attention. By that I mean dont skimp on maintenance. If there are issues, fix them IMMEDIATELY or it can get very expensive (i.e. ignore replacing a $25 coil pack and you could spend $1000 on a new cat). I will also say you need to keep the interior conditioned, it doesnt like being left to dry out on hot days.

Audi A4 is an awesome car - 2002 Audi A4
By - March 4 - 10:00 amGreat car for the price. I got such a great deal a month or two after its release. The only negative is the fuel economy. But I guess its expected from a turbo engine. The space in the back is pretty cramped according to my passengers but....its a luxury/sports car. its expected.

02 A4 1.8 QM5 - Polar - 2002 Audi A4
By mikegar123 - February 20 - 10:00 amWOW - Ive waited a long time to own an A4 and I finally purchased the 2002 B6 platform. Simply awesome. Interior -no other company does it better. The exterior is sleek and sporty. The added safety and performance of Quattro make this car the best bang for your buck automobile in the Entry Sports sedan market.

Audi does it best - 2002 Audi A4
By JT - January 27 - 3:18 pmI leased my A4 because I wasnt sure I would like driving a stick after a lot of years of automatics but this car changed all that. It has been a fantastic performer in all kinds of weather conditions and having a stick takes me back to when I was 16. I liked the A4 so much, I bought it outright and bought a 2 year warranty extension from the dealer. Had a couple of repairs made under the warranty but overall I have no complaints with the cars reliability up to this point with 58K miles on it. I got everything available except Bose audio and Xenon headlights. Heated seats are great in winter and very comfortable. This is the best car I ever owned.. and Ive owned 11 different cars.

Waiting for the other shoes to drop - 2002 Audi A4
By Tim H - December 10 - 5:42 pmIve put a steady 12K a year on this car in a mix of city & freeway driving, up to the 75K I have now. After the 4- year lease was up, which coincided with the 50K-mile warranty, I bought the car outright and on a hunch bought a 70K- mile extended warranty. Great hunch! It paid for itself twice over, but now that it has expired Im dreading the next major expense and wondering what it will be. Though I still love the vehicle, its looks & ride, it may be time to move on before the pit of mechanical-breakdown hell opens up. One amazing point: At 75K miles I have never needed new brakes thanks to careful driving and downshifting rather than braking at every opportunity (though I will soon)

Lemon Aid - 2002 Audi A4
By Susan - December 7 - 8:58 amToo many expensive repairs has taken the fun out of this car. I will miss the way it drives and extras, like the Bose stereo system, when I soon buy something different.
