This Year's Model Updates:

Audi's entry-level sedan and wagon are all new for 2002. Along with a redesigned body structure and new sheet metal, the new A4 receives a variety of changes to make it sportier. It is motivated by either a 170-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four or a completely new 3.0-liter 220-horsepower V6, which can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Making its debut this year for non-quattro models is a continuously variable transmission (CVT), also known as multitronic. An in-dash six-disc CD changer and a dual-zone auto climate control top the standard features list.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive, powerful engines, sharp handling.
Cons:
  • Prices shoot up with options.

Bought that Audi 4 months ago, 3k miles and 3000 dollars I spend for keeping it running. Oil leak, pump(timing belt), catalytic, heater problems, ignition coils...and some more...14 - 15mpg in a city. It looks really great, but im afraid to drive it, anything could break anytime...

  • A4 quattro 1.8 - 2002 Audi A4

I purchased this car with 57k miles 2 years ago. Now I have 84k and I only had a few problems. Power steering fluid was leaking and engine speed sensor and also my moonroof wont stay open. I enjoy driving the car especially in the winter when theres snow on the ground! Its fun! I havent had a major problem but I am scared coz someone I know has the same exact car and his timing belt broke at 85k. It is not a cheap car to fix nor maintain but I try my best.

The new A4 3.0 is outstanding. Fun to drive and great styling. The CVT is quick and smooth. Highly recommend a test drive. In the class, I cant imagine a better car for the money.

This is the best handling car I have owned. Also has the best interior I have seen under $60K. Love the Quattro and the unique Audi style. For a few thousand more than an Accord or Camry, a much better car.

  • Best in Class - 2002 Audi A4

I drove all other vehicles in this class and the Audi was the best overall. The exterior design of the BMW is very sporty, and has a slight edge over the Audi w/o the sport package, but I think with the 17" rims, lowered body, stiffer suspension of the sport model beats out the BMW. The cornering is best in its class with the AWD. The sound system is also best in class. The interior is ergonomically perfect. To top it all off is the 48 month warranty on ALL maintanence. Best buy in my opinion.

  • Wedding has been consumated. - 2002 Audi A4

I looked at lots of makes before buying this car. This included the Infinity I35 and the Volvo S60. I left early one Saturday morning with the intent to buy an Infinity. But before I committed,..I want to test drive that sporty A4 that I had looked at a few weeks earlier. That evening I drove home an A4. One test drive and the marriage was consumated. I love this car and everything about it. Three months later and Im still having fun driving. Ill say it again. I love this car. But beware at 62" there is not much leg room in the back-seat when Im driving. And the center console is a little intrusive for a long legged driver. But I do love my car.

  • Great little car - 2002 Audi A4

I originally bought the 5sp. manual Audi A4 1.8t used with 95,000 miles on the odometer. 15 minutes after driving it away from the dealer, the car nearly broke down, so we drove it back and they replaced an engine coil and all was fine. I went about 10,000 miles with an oil change every 3k miles, and one day when I started it up the engine was acting funny and the check engine and oil light came on, indicating that there were signs of oil sludge buildup, which I read is quite common in the 1.8t, due to design flaw. Now, the radio acts up. However I love this car regardless. Such a fun, attractive, luxurious little car.

  • Cannot go wrong with A4 - 2002 Audi A4

Practical, comfortable and safe sports sedan. This is my second Audi, and I am definitely "hooked" on the brand. Strongly recommend for consideration if you are looking for entry level luxury sedan.

  • 1.8T is a little underpowered - 2002 Audi A4

This a great car and for the first eight months I absolutely loved the performance in this car. Then I bought my wife a Turbo S Beetle which has the same engine and I got to realize that this cars weight counts against having the 1.8T motor. The A4 has a lot of turbo lag under 3000 rpm which you dont feel in the Beetle with the same engine. I have a manual shift and quattro and it has the best roadholding in the world. Awesome motorcar. Next time, Ill go with the 3.0 or the S4, although at least this way I dont get the speeding fines I would with the 3.0

  • Looks Good, Runs Bad - 2002 Audi A4

I bought this car instead of a 325xi, what a mistake. Horrible initial build quality. Drivers seat squeaks constantly, dealer refuses to acknowledge problem. Every time it snows(which is what I bought the car for)the windshield wipers freeze or the motor locks up and the wipers remain stuck right in the line of vision. I am also experiencing crazy electrical problems, I will turn off the esp and my turn signal will activate and my headlights will shut off. Now there is a re-call for the ignition coil. The Bose stereo is nice, just dont try to listen to it with the sunroof open. I Want My 1999 2.8 Q Back ! What was audi thinking.
