Overview & Reviews
Last year's 2.4T model is now the 2.5T, with the same 208-horsepower engine as the AWD model. Bi-xenon headlights are a new option, while the sport package for the 2.5T includes speed-sensitive power steering.
- Superb comfort, wide variety of safety and luxury features, balanced ride and handling characteristics, available all-wheel drive.
- Handling lacks true sport sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, turbo lag and torque steer in the T5 model.

217,000 and going strong - 2004 Volvo S60
By birddogphil - November 28 - 12:25 pmI have driven this car for business for the last 8 years. This is my second Volvo in recent years and I consider this S60 to be as close to the perfect car for me as I will ever get. With the 2.4 engine,I think the performance is good but obviously not stellar.Reliability, comfort, style,MPG are however all stellar.Keep a few extra bulbs on hand, change the oil and do regular maintenance and do what I am planning to do-keep driving this car for 300,000 miles and then decide if I should look for a new ride.

Turning ratio difficult in urban areas - 2004 Volvo S60
By msl - September 18 - 10:00 amShould have taken some close U-turns on the test drive. With 18" wheels, it is almost impossible to perform a U-turn in city with 4 lane traffic. So concerned that I looked at moving back from AWD to a T-5 and with only 2,000 miles, the "book value" had decreased $14K from what I paid 3 months earlier. Fun to drive on highway, not in city.

best in class - 2004 Volvo S60
By cjs - August 22 - 2:00 amI love this car. I drove pretty much everything in the class, BMWs, Nissans, the Passat, Infiniti G35 and I35. Each car and make has its strong suit but I think Volvo has really created the best all-around car here. One cautionary note here, I leased mine sight unseen (another dealers inventory) and really wish I had the 17 inch rims.

Not ready for prime time - 2004 Volvo S60
By NRFPT - August 22 - 2:00 amA fun car to drive but the build quality is not up to par. Have already had the rear brake pads & rotors replaced due to squeaking and the replacements also squeak. Also have a disturbing vibration in the shifter when in 5th gear. Volvos position is that the vibration is inherent in the design of the car.

Too Much Fun for Short Trips - 2004 Volvo S60
By T5A-S60R - July 11 - 2:00 amThe S60R is clearly the best undercover performance car Ive ever driven. I traded my Volvo T5 for it just after it was released in April 2003. Its power is exhilerating and it has a lot of "pedal" in gears 3 through 6.

Disappointed - 2004 Volvo S60
By M - January 5 - 9:10 pmThe car is nice looking and safe, but beyond that I have not been impressed. The turning radius is terrible, it takes about 5 turns to get out of a parking space. The automatic key lock has a prolonged delay, and I find myself waiting for my doors to open and lock. The car makes noises when you turn left, and the dealer said "thats just what this car does". Brake pads are not covered under the warranty and they needed to be replaced at 15,000 miles. Overall not impressed with the Volvo, and would not buy another.

Great used car purchase - 2004 Volvo S60
By KeepKeysAwayFromWife - December 1 - 4:50 amPurchased 04 S60 2.5T in May 09 with ~60k miles for ~$10k. Although not as tight or responsive as 91 Jetta GLI, car is fun to drive with adequate hp. Suspension is firm, but steering feedback is less than GLI. Seats are very comfortable, but not as snug as Recarros of GLI. MPG settling in around 21.5 with mix of very short daily commute with 1 hr drives to airport. Even with STC on, the car will squeal tires. Wife would not drive Acura CL, but regularly absconds with the S60!

Overall Impressions - 2004 Volvo S60
By Ed Mytych - August 10 - 2:26 amFirst year of ownership was fantastic. No problems at all to report. At times the frequency of the automatic wipers seemed to be inappropriate for the conditions. Really enjoy the ride and handling!
