Overview & Reviews
Last year's 2.4T model is now the 2.5T, with the same 208-horsepower engine as the AWD model. Bi-xenon headlights are a new option, while the sport package for the 2.5T includes speed-sensitive power steering.
- Superb comfort, wide variety of safety and luxury features, balanced ride and handling characteristics, available all-wheel drive.
- Handling lacks true sport sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, turbo lag and torque steer in the T5 model.

Not really a Volvo - 2004 Volvo S60
By John Henry - September 13 - 2:00 amVolvo - safe, functional cars, right? Well, not really with the S60. Yes it is a fun car to drive, but is this any different than the S40? No, would suggest not spending extra for this car. Seems as if Volvo lost sight of what Volvo stands for. Sure has great handling on perfect road conditions. Get some bad weather though, and look out, big time problems. Finding out safety record is disappointing - another non-Volvo feature. Forget using back seat - this really should be a coupe, not a sedan.

So Far So good - 2004 Volvo S60
By Bodiej13 - August 27 - 10:00 amI bought this car for my wife after she looked at BMW 3 series and MB 230. Weve put about 5K miles on it so far with no problems at all to date. The only negative things I can say is the turning radius sucks and the suspension is a bit noisy on bumpy roads. Other than that no complaints. Didnt like the noisy 4 banger on the MB and it seemed smaller. The BMW was the most fun but with similar options would have been 5-8K more and everybody has one.

Bimmer to R - and very impressed - 2004 Volvo S60
By Leejlb - June 17 - 6:20 pmI traded my 540 in on a Volvo R and its hard explain my enthusiasm. Sure, a Bimmer is performance - and Volvo stands for safety - until you drive it. Total performance all the time. Going for groceries has never been a faster trip and what a sleeper. One of the faster 4 door sedans on the road and the "R" emblem seems to disappear at a red light to the unsuspecting teenie racer with the lawn mower exhaust next to you... Great car so far - hope its BMW reliable in the future... :))

volvo - 2004 Volvo S60
By enzo - June 2 - 10:00 amThis car is very safe, enjoyable but i just dont fell the ability to peel out- -go rip the tires or go fast. I love the car but, i would rather prefer a subaru impreza or maybe a different volvo or a bmw but, I enjoy this car a lot also.

2004 S60R AWD Manual - 2004 Volvo S60
By Jackseth - June 2 - 10:00 amExcellent AWD handling. 6speed shifts well. Launching car from stop is tricky, as the clutch engages at the top end and is very springy. Minimal turbo lag. Lots of engine noise at high RPM. On the mountain roads, at speed, this car turns into a beast. Very fast, very agile. The upper limits of this car are beyond most drivers.

Enjoyable, but quality concerns - 2004 Volvo S60
By porterj - December 19 - 2:00 amThe dealer experience was only average at best, however I felt the S60 offered the best value. I also strongly preferred the European feel of this car to its Japanese made competition. Car is very well laid out, has a fantastic all wheel drive system.

S60R 6spd - 2004 Volvo S60
By Turboguru - May 24 - 9:20 amI bought this car in December of 08, only 4 months later and the car has been in the shop more than Ive had it. Countless little problems, and several Major problems, costing over $3000. Im afraid to drive the car cause I never know when its gonna break next. The turning radius stinks, and it makes random noises. But its leather is top notch, sound system is great when it works, it looks amazing, accelerates great.

A fun ride, almost a sportscar ! - 2004 Volvo S60
By Jumpin_George - July 18 - 2:00 amI like the power of the 2.5T, but as Edmunds describes you have to deal with turbo lag. It is excellent in the snow and ice, the AWD system combined with a good set of snowtires allows me great control and feeling of security. Nice leather interior, decent sound system, well engineered features and looks great !

volvo girl for life - 2004 Volvo S60
By volvo gal - June 29 - 2:00 amI owned a S40 for two years and wanted more power, the s60 was it! the Volvo moto is correct. Volvo for Life. Once you have driven a volvo you will find it hard to ever go back to a honda! The s60 offers power when needed and comfort the whole way. Highly recommeded, body style is big and bad! if the HP of 204 w/ turbo is not enough plan on the ECU chip being released later this year, boosting to 304 HP!
