Last year's 2.4T model is now the 2.5T, with the same 208-horsepower engine as the AWD model. Bi-xenon headlights are a new option, while the sport package for the 2.5T includes speed-sensitive power steering.

Exceeding Expectations - 2004 Volvo S60
By Camster - December 20 - 2:00 amThis is our first Volvo. I had thought that I would never own a Volvo due to their older, boxy models that did not appeal to me. But their newer, current models caught my attention, and when we test drove the S-60 we were quite impressed. To get a comprable car with the plush interior and performance engine, such as BMW or Mercedes, youd have to pay about $10K more. Alternatively, you could get an Accura TL which is comprable in price, performance and size, but it looks and feels cheap compared to the Volvo S- 60.

Fun for the Price! - 2004 Volvo S60
By Doc_TCF - December 3 - 8:40 amTje 2004 Volvo S60R is my wifes car and I have trouble not taking her car in the morning instead of my Lincoln Aviator! I have so much fun driving the R, that I insist on driving when my wife and I travel together. It has great acceleration with only a slight turbo lag at the start, but really starts to move in 2nd/3rd gear. The front seats are the most comfortable Ive been in. And as a young professional couple with a baby on the way, I feel great about having such a safe car as well. The AWD is also a bonus in the rainy NW. Volvo has better customer service than BMW. Only complaints are a recurring theme here: poor turning radius and the wheels scratch easliy.

By myfirstvolvo - September 15 - 10:00 amThe drive is definitely different from my last car a BMW to a Volvo. The sunroof was malfunction the day I got my Volvo. Luckily, the part was under warranty. Blew out an un-repairable tire after three weeks. Paid $150 excluded labor for a unique hard to find tire. The car consumed more gas than expected. I wonder what else might go wrong. I however like the redesigned Volvo that looks sporty and maintain its safety reputation.

Thank goodness for my S60 - 2004 Volvo S60
By luvmys60 - September 8 - 10:00 amI recently bought a brand-new 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc and it was a very nice car, the only problem was that it had too many problems. No, this wasnt a display model. Under the lemon law, Saab bought my car back and I switched to a brand-new 2004 Volvo S60 2.5T and I am proud to say that I am very well pleased. The seats are slightly more comfortable than the 9-3 and the interior feels richer. The speaker system is (out of a possible 10) 0.1 points away from beating the 9-3s speaker system. Well, Im must happier that I switched to a Volvo!

Great but not perfect - 2004 Volvo S60
By ChampaignBlue - September 3 - 10:00 amI love this car. Awesome value. Great blend of a high performance sedan and family truckster. Get the manual tranny. The car is awesome in the snow but do get some snow tires. This car will run with Audi/BMW/MB for less $. I love the variable suspension. Unlike an M3, it wont shake your teeth loose in daily commuting. I love the subtle exterior styling. I have had problems with brake squeal and have already had new brake pads (free). I have scuffed 3/4 of the rims at drive throughs. The radio is a bit too complex to operate. The clutch is a bit springy and engages a bit too high. It took a few weeks before I got used to the clutch.

R U happy? You bet! - 2004 Volvo S60
By zooommaan - August 24 - 5:30 amPeople have definitely hit on the high and low points. This car is Fast and Furious. It goes like a bat out of hell, stops on a dime and handles like a racehorse. It does all this in comfort and safety and looks good to boot! The stereo is awesome, it is always a pleasure to take this car out. However, I always feel like this car would rather be on an autobahn than tooling around town. I am watching the mileage dropping (on the trip computer) daily. It is not a great car to drive slowly, thats the bottom line.

Sound Investment - 2004 Volvo S60
By Loadmaster - August 8 - 2:00 amThis is the fourth Volvo my wife and I have owned. There have been two S70s and one V40. So far the S60 has been a sound investment. During the first weekend of driving, I put on approx 350 miles. Some of that was during a major snow storm following a New England Patriots game. The handling was very good during the storm. My wife and I have become true Volvo loyalists.

Best car for under $40k - 2004 Volvo S60
By dbugbee - June 20 - 2:00 amIf you want the biggest bang for your buck, you cant go wrong with the S60R. It looks great, both inside and out, and is not as ubiquitous as the 3 series or A4 series. Plenty of power, handles great, and has the most comfortable seats in the industry.

Had my S60R for 7 months and I love it! - 2004 Volvo S60
By Iluv2raceit - June 15 - 10:00 amThe car performs great, has all-wheel- drive (AWD), and luxury to boot, and all for under $38,000! I test drove the BMW 330XI and Audi S4; the S60R is the best deal. The Audi S4 is faster (it has a 40hp advantage), but for $10,000 more, I WILL PASS, THANK YOU. The S60Rs AWD system is superior to both the Audis and BMWs. And, the S60R comes with the Active Chassis System (called 4C) which ontrols both the suspension and the throttle response. Neither Audi nor BMW has this option. So, the bottom line is this: The S60R has it all; luxury, sportiness, performance, and SAFETY.
