This Year's Model Updates:

Last year's 2.4T model is now the 2.5T, with the same 208-horsepower engine as the AWD model. Bi-xenon headlights are a new option, while the sport package for the 2.5T includes speed-sensitive power steering.

Pros:
  • Superb comfort, wide variety of safety and luxury features, balanced ride and handling characteristics, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • Handling lacks true sport sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, turbo lag and torque steer in the T5 model.

  • Great to Drive My Wifes Car - 2004 Volvo S60

Wer letting our daughters use our stalwart 240 wagon at university. My wife wanted Toyota, Subaru maybe Honda, but not BMer, Mercedes, or Jag. Maintenance is concern. I drive Suburban and Ferrari. Volvo is great to run around town and highway is fine. Sport package and turbo helps. Mileage is ok--22. Steering is safe but not Ferrari. Breaks good. Sweet car!

  • Best AWD purchase - 2004 Volvo S60

We test drove and researched many 2004 AWD sedans. BMW 325xi, great car/service but too pricey w/options. VW Passat GLX 4motion, no fold down rear seats (picky, I know, util you need them). Audi A4 3.0 quattro, too pricey w/options. Subaru Legacy 2.5GT/Outback, good value, proven AWD, but underpowered motor and nearly as much $$$ w/options as our Volvo. S60 was greatest value for the money especially w/family on the way. Equal to other German offerings but not as harsh on city streets. Uses same AWD system as Subaru. 28mpg! Very solid car, but quick on its feet...gotta love the Turbo! tip: Do your research & test drive on a rainy/snowy day.

The Volvo S60 2.5T is a joy to drive. The smooth transmission and comfortable seats make city and cross crountry driving a pleasure. There is enough pep when you need to get around someone or something with the handling to supplement it. Great car.

To date, no issues with the vehicle. Build quality is excellent, as well as performance. 4C is great. Sport and Advanced have very different qualities. Comfort vs. Sport is not as great a change. The car tracks as if on rails in high speed turns. The car is just pure fun to drive. Best part is I can take it out for some spirited driving, then haul the kids to soccer. Its stealth, but (in my opinion) looks much better than an S60AWD. For the money, you will have to spend $10-15K more to get something comparable from Audi, BMW or Benz.

Coming from a Nissan Maxima(2000) I was used to good accerleration and handling. I found that my S602.5T was all that and more. An extremely solid feeling car which still had good handling and more than adequate power. The seats are excellent and I look foward to having the car for many years.

bought the 2.4t liked the looks of it. Plenty of room up front with supportive seats, to bad the leather is falling apart after 3 months. Highway driving is noisy, lots of wind noise crap tires I bought the sport package with the 17" rims. When turning the wheel full lock the tires rub against wells. At times I feel like im driving a cheap car.

  • Solid performance at any speed! - 2004 Volvo S60

This car feels glued to the road regardless of the speed you are traveling. In fact, I cant wait to accelerate through the curves in the road or expressway on-ramps. The overall precision built into this car is evident in the adjustable suspension and 4-C system - Heck, even the clock and speedometer are dead on! Warning: You will find yourself putting more miles on this car than originally anticipated due to the Fun-Factor!

  • True Sports Sedan - 2004 Volvo S60

Loved it as soon as I saw it. Looked at Jaguar X & S Types, not sporty enough. Got the 6 manual, 4 disc in-dash CD, nav system, 18" wheels, sport package with ground effects. The sport package really dresses the car up nice. I get alot of looks & compliments. The nav system is very good, alot of good & useful options. The active suspension & three settings are great. You can feel the suspension really change as soon as you push the button. The engine loves to be pushed. This is truly a car that can be driven comfortably on weekdays and driven like a sport sedan on the weekend. Volvo safety speaks for itself. They really

  • Love this car! - 2004 Volvo S60

I bought my car brand new in August 2003. It has 177K miles on it. Other than a tiny parking lot door ding on one side, which I will have a mobile dent guy repair, and a bit of wear on the door side of the drivers leather seat, the car still looks like new when its just had a good wash. I have followed the manufacturers maintenance schedule during the almost 12 years of ownership, except I now get regular maintenance every 5K miles instead of every 7500 miles. I plan to keep driving this car until it simply will not go any longer, which I am hoping wont be for another few hundred thousand miles.

  • S60, Better than the 325i because..... - 2004 Volvo S60
    By -

As an Auto buyer, i was looking for something a bit snotty, but reasonable at the same time. I was impressed with the sportiness of the S60 2.5 T, the comfort and craftmanship. When i drove the BMW 325i, i was not as impressed. One of the reasons is that it lacks the power of the S-60, the BMW is nice mind you, it handles well, but the S-60 is very competent on the road as well, also the luxury features for the money are better. The safety features are bar none, you owe yourself at least a drive, if you are considering a 325i. I suggest getting the premium and sport package at minimum, it makes the car very fun.
