Overview & Reviews
A new high-performance model, the S60 R, will become available later in the year. Otherwise, minor changes are in store for Volvo's sport sedan for 2003. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, along with a stereo with a CD and a cassette deck, now grace the interior of the 2.4 and the 2.4T. The latter also gets foglights and wood dash trim in its standard equipment list. For the all-wheel-drive version, the 2.4 turbocharged engine receives a small bump in displacement and horsepower. Rain-sensing wipers and OnCall Plus (the telematics system) are available, and two new colors, Titanium Grey and Ruby Red, brighten the exterior.
- Long list of standard safety features, luxurious interior, powerful turbocharged engine in top-line T5 model, deceptively quick 2.4T power plant, available all-wheel drive.
- Handling lacks true sport-sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, torque steer in the T5 model.

Boxy but Good...Think again! - 2003 Volvo S60
By Scott_740 - July 31 - 2:00 amBeing a newcomer to Volvo, I was guilty of stereotyping the brand based on its prior conservative looks. Once inside the cabin, I was impressed with the build quality and comfort of the front seats. The interior layout is ergonomically friendly and the choice of materials and surfaces are attractive and sporty (the wood is a great touch!). All of that on top of eye-catching exterior styling and enough zip to surprise many BMW and Mercedes owners at stop lights.

Best Car I Ever Met - 2003 Volvo S60
By geo123 - March 30 - 2:00 amI test drove every car in the near luxury segment and was amazed at how superior the S60 was. Nothing approaches the quality of the interior, the safety and it is deceptively fast. The only negative thing you might hear is someone complaining about rear leg room, but everyone knows rear seat passengers have no rights, so tell them to shut it.

Gorgeous Styling - 2003 Volvo S60
By MikeJr - November 17 - 2:00 amThe Nautic Blue with 17" Tethys wheels is absolutely gorgeous! The styling is unique and does not look like the other European "jelly bean" sedans. It has an Italian design flair to it.

Quite the cruiser.. - 2003 Volvo S60
By Bap106 - September 24 - 10:00 amMy wife and I enjoy road travel, and this car has shown us that it is capable of cruising for hours without breaking a sweat. You quickly realize the car just seems to eat up the pavement. We especially enjoy the comfort in knowing the safety features are there...just in case you may need them.

Bad handling - 2003 Volvo S60
By hotdog - August 18 - 2:00 amNice car but tracks terrible. It will follow groves in the road and cause you to swerve to regain control. Also during hard acceleration vehicle will swerve from side to side.

You may have big trouble with S60 - 2003 Volvo S60
By Incubus - August 14 - 4:13 pmWell, Ford-owned Volvo needs to improve a lot. After riding a year, the engine of S60 stops sometimes during maneuver and the big problem cannot be fixed yet. The suspension is now too soft to give firm ride comfort and the interior makes a rather noisy sound.

Great used value. Safe and sporty - 2003 Volvo S60
By Popps - August 9 - 10:50 pmI love my S60, even with its flaws. In my opinion, the best looking body of any sports sedan. Great reliability history, especially for a Volvo. Lets hope they continue this trend. Ride is good. Peppy, but Id prefer a bit more power. (I have 2.4T) Interior design is fine, but could be a bit more refined for a luxury sedan. (See Infiniti) Gas mileage is surprisingly good. An excellent used value, as Volvos dont hold value like a BMW/Mercedes. Again, its not perfect, but I love mine and doubt youll do any better for the money in the used market.
