This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, there is a refreshed instrument panel and cabin trim, a new climate control system and a new radio. Most trims also see a new leather-wrapped, multifunction steering wheel and standard Bluetooth connectivity. An iPod connection becomes a separate option (you had to get the navigation system before) while the SportWagen loses its SEL trim level and the accompanying turbocharged engine. The sport-tuned GLI has been discontinued. Finally, there's a new Limited Edition trim and the TDI Cup "Street" Edition debuts with an extra helping of tuner flavor.

Pros:
  • Diverse selection of strong engines, stellar fuel economy in TDI trim, upscale look and feel, comfortable seats, impressive cargo capacity in both body styles, pleasant ride.
Cons:
  • Below-average fuel economy with 2.5-liter engine, lackluster brake performance, small backseat compared to midsize competitors.

  • Awesome Car for the Money - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I bought this car 3 weeks ago and so far Ive been very impressed by the performance and fuel economy of the TDI. I stopped buying VW cars because of the reliability issues in recent years, but hopefully thats all in the past. The car came fully equipped and the only extract I got was the bigger wheels, which make a big difference in handling.

  • Where do i start? - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

The good: great performance, power, interior build quality, MPG. The bad: .......Expensive maintenance, engineering flaws abound.... HPFP not engineered to USA diesel tolerances. 7K $ repair, DPF (filter that once clogged under 150K miles cost several thousand dollars.) How do you engineer a car with known issues that are so expensive to repair? intake manifold went around 120k. Then the EGR problems and limp mode. I unloaded the car with 160k miles once the wastegate actuator went on the turbo. Oh yeah, good luck if your turbo goes..it will....another several thousand dollars. I know 2 others whose turbo blew before 150k. That is why i got rid of this money-sucking headache. Shame on you VW ! Lawsuits, and building a car just shy of a lemon. VW ...NEVER AGAIN

  • My firs lease - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Have had the vehicle for one week. Rides smooth. Handles well in heavy rain. This a first time leasing, I feel comfortable with it.

  • Never owned german car - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

I bought my first German car and did not know what to expect. I am very surprised. The handling is outstanding, the color which is new is beautiful. The car is solid and handles like a dream. It has the no maintenance for 3 years which will save me money. If you cant afford a BMW this is a good choice.

This is my first vw. I bought it because I thought I will keep the car for ever since I know diesel engines last forever. Also MPG is a huge plus. Shortly after I bought the car I started to see reports about HPFP failures and the way company is blaming them on contaminated fuel! These cars are in the market for only two years and they have less than 30- 40K mileage on them and they are failing! If US diesel fuel is so bad why VW introduced these new engine? Everybody is talking how clean these are but how good they would be if they fail after few thousand miles? The sad part is VW has not issues any answer why HPFP is failing. I bought this car to travel cross country and have fun not concern!

  • Poor quality and poor Service - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

The car has had numerous issues and it is only 27 months old with 38k miles. Most recently and now 2k miles after warranty coverage ended, the turbo intercooler cracked which caused the particulate filter and EGR cooler to fail. My extended warranty covers the IC but the DPF and EGR c ooler not covered. Cost to repair is $2100. VW offering to contribute $1000. 2-year old car and I owe $1,100 for repair...POOR Quality and VW not standing behind there product. BEWARE this car and extended warranties purchased from VW

  • Love My TDI! - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

Got my Jetta TDI a couple of weeks ago. I cant stop smiling when driving it and I cant stop looking up more info on what others say about their love for the TDI. Wanted a Sportswagen but the great deal I got on the sedan was unbeatable - 0% financing for 66 months fro VW Credit. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Emich VW in Denver. My wife and two sons love going on drives with me. Hoping winter driving in it goes well, but have heard good reports (used to driving 4wheeldrives). Thank you VW for all of the fun, safety, performance, MPGs! My 3rd VW in 26 years. Cant beat the enjoyment of all of my v-dubs.

  • Noisy Engine - Test Drive Carefully! - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

The 2.0Tsi engine has a known "popping sound" at between 2000 and 3000 RPM. Many owners complain of the noise during acceleration, sounds like "pop rocks in a can" - I thought it sounded like engine knocking. VW confirms it is the wastegate on the turbo, but says it is normal. Along with the noise, I find it annoying that they have known about the noise for at least three years yet have not fixed it. Test drive with a purpose and make sure you can stand the noise before buying, because you are stuck with it once you take the keys.

  • Check engine light blues! - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

Bought the TDI wagon with manual transmission with sunroof and sat nav system. Good styling, handles nice, runs good and only sips fuel. The check engine light came on before I made it home from the dealer so I drove a loaner for a week. Two weeks later the light came on again. Another loaner. More time in the shop. Nice little car but I really have issues with the reliability. In all honesty I cant recommend the car but I have lots of good to say about the dealership.

  • Never thought Id love a wagon :) - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI - Candy White, Black Interior, 6-speed. My wife wanted something with room and good gas mileage(not easy to find, as you may already know). I wanted something fun to drive. BAM! VW has the perfect solution. Weve only got a little over 1K miles, but this car is great and grows on me more every day. 6-speed is a blast to drive, does not feel like a station wagon at all. Plenty of room for us, our daughter w/ car seat, 2 dogs and luggage on last road trip. What a great feeling to look down and see that youre cruising along at 75+ mph and getting 42+ mpg!! We plan on keeping this car for a LONG time...thanks VW!
