Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

Im an Idiot - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By quest - October 9 - 10:20 pmI bought this car brand new, two weeks later when washing it I discovered what looked like the back window had been broken and replaced. Long story short, it had been broken during transport and nobody knew...? The best they would do is give me free maintenance for two years as compensation. Then while fixing the window, they broke a strut in the trunk. They just fixed that and now my heater is broken, no air and no heat. My speakers seem cracked, they found nothing. The car revved high and the light came on, they again found nothing. I have under 6,000 miles on this car. Im "farfromgroovin" right now!

German is not always quality - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Former Jetta Driver - August 8 - 2:00 amI bought this car brand new and after 5 years put 60000 miles on it. Service intervals cost an arm and leg. Quality is terrible. Car was cupping tires, the electrical in left door failed, lights burn out randomly, paint peeling of interior buttons and radio. Speakers stopped working. Do not buy VW, this is not the same German car it used to be years back. It is the biggest piece of junk. The dealer always makes excuses when there is a problem and blames it on wear and tear or customer fault. This car was terrible. It only had 57000 when I traded it in to get rid the junk.

VW RIPOFF 2006 tdi RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By john brown - April 23 - 7:32 pmI bought this car new all maintenance and oil and filter changes done since I bought it. I have had to replace radiator, air cond compressor, alternator, anti shudder valve, egr cooler clutch, now at 188000 miles the cam needs to be replaced plus the tappets and the vacuum pump I have spent over $7000 dollars so far on repairs not counting what this is going to cost my suggestion STAY AWAY FROM VOLKSWAGON.

Isnt necessarily aging gracefully.... - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By nrlucas - January 13 - 4:04 amI bought this car 1 1/2 years old in 2008 with 10,000 miles to replace my totaled 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320. I was over the cost of Mercedes maintenance and the Benz-Chrysler era reliability issues, however almost 5 years later this car has proven equally reliable, and because I cant find a good VW mechanic Im still stuck with dealer servicing. I have paid every penny for maintenance of what I paid for my Mercedes...only in a car that cost slightly less than half of what the E320 cost brand new. Its very comfortable, drives nice but there are too many odd failures that have happened to me over the years including having to replace the suspension and fuel pump at 55,000 miles
