The base engine is now a 245-hp, 4.0-liter V6 that uses either a six-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic. The optional 4.7-liter V8 now makes 282 hp and is coupled with a standard five-speed automatic transmission. Two-wheel-drive regular cabs are now available with a V8 engine, while four-wheel-drive Access Cabs can no longer be equipped with a V6. Regular cabs equipped with the V8 get a color-keyed grille and chrome front bumper, as well as vinyl flooring and a cloth bench seat. Two new alloy wheel designs are available on Access Cab and Double Cab models, and all Tundras get new headlamps and rear combination lamps. Inside, new gauges and an available navigation system with JBL audio spruce things up a bit. In addition, Double Cabs can now get a 60/40-split bench front seat for true six-passenger seating. Front side-impact airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on Double Cabs.

  Wonderful truck for just about anybody - 2005 Toyota Tundra

  A stump puller it isnt, but for the average person, the Toyota Tundra is all the truck youll ever need. Pulls well, comfortable cabin, and with the step side, an unusual and sporty look for a truck. I got a leftover new 2004 access cab for a "Preachers Price," and am very happy. Quiet and smooth, even over Arkansas roads, and excellent power. Yes, it is a little spartan and dated on the inside styling, but comfortable. A very good value and will do everything I need to do.

  This truck rides and performs fantastic. Fit finish are top notch. Getting 15mpg around town and 20mpg on highway. Mileage will get better after about 5000 miles.

  No problems with towing like the reviews say, fun to drive off road... I take it hunting and fishing all the time, while towing my 22 boat I love my Tundra

  As a longtime owner and driver of American-made, full size pickups, the 4- door Tundra is by the far the most drivable machine Ive ever owned. Its like a luxury car with an open trunk.

  l purchased because my brother has one. And he puts a 4x4 thru its paces, so l knew it was one tough truck. Although it is primarily the family hauler, its going to be used for its 12" ground clearance purpose occasionally and plenty of power for hauling the camper. Back to back driving the Ford 5.4, the Tundra kicked it power wise. lt drives like a luxury car and get almost 20 mpg hwy.

  This is my first Toyota, and what a difference in quality, reliability, and workmanship than the Big 3. If you are considering a 4 door truck, go and drive the rest and then buy the best. This truck is awesome, it is like a luxury sedan in every way except it has a lot more cargo room and the ability to tow heavy payloads if needed. It also gets about the same gas mileage as my Honda Passport and it has a bigger engine.

  Bought new. Excellent quality, fit and finish. It looks and drives pretty much the same as new. Really enjoy driving it. One issue: Toyota dealers trying to "service" the truck far in excess of whats needed per the factory (examples: Toyota dealer in MDR, CA refused refused to do anything other than a "package" service with all sorts of costly extras; Toyota dealer in Burlingame, CA refused to replace front brake pads w/out machining the rotors despite the rotors being even and smooth). When that happens, find another Toyota dealer (example: the Toyota dealer in North Hollywood, CA was happy to do exactly what Toyota specified and no more -- saved me money and my truck runs great).

  Great Truck - 2005 Toyota Tundra

  I had owned a Tacoma since 2001 and just traded it in for a new 05 Access Cab TRD Tundra. I was already sold on Toyota quality so it was a no brainer to purchase another Toyota. I just wanted more room, more power and more comfort. The 05 Tundra was everything I was looking for. So far very pleased with the whole experience.

  Very good pulling power for 3.5 klb. boat, barely tell its back there. On Hwy you will get close to 20 mpg. Pulling the boat, it drops down to about 13-14 mpg. Ride is very smooth, and quiet. Handling is like a sports car. Before you buy anything else, test drive one of these puppies.

  My 2004 Tundra was totaled in a head-on collision when a driver fell asleep and hit me nearly head-on. I am now convinced of Tundras safety. I replaced the 2004 model with the 2005 model. I loved my 2004 model, and my 2005 is even better. The 2005s 5-speed auto is smoother than the 2004s 4-speed. Maybe it is only imagination, but my wife and I think the 2005 has a louder muffler than the 2004. I like the louder muffler, she doesnt.
