This Year's Model Updates:

The four-door Double Cab joins the 2004 Toyota Tundra lineup. The Double Cab rides on an extended wheelbase of 140.5 inches, and features a cargo bed equal in length to the Access Cab's while gaining 3.5 inches of depth.

Pros:
  • Smooth and refined V8, Toyota build quality and reliability, easy maneuverability in urban areas, roomy Double Cab configuration.
Cons:
  • Lacks serious brawn for towing and hauling, uncomfortable front seats, cramped rear seat in Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

I should preface with this by saying Im a car nut and scare people with my knowledge of cars and trucks. I looked at all of the full size pickups before deciding on the Tundra. It hasnt let me down but Im getting tired of the $70 fill ups. The concept for the all new Tundra is a little scary. If you want a Tundra and can afford the gas get one now! FYI- the Double Cab has more headroom than the other Tundras. I had a 97 F150 and this thing blows it away. You cant beat Toyota trucks for resale either. I practically had to give my F150 away and I was glad to see it go.

I own a V-6 but it has and does everything I need it to do. With todays gas prices, the V-6 comes in handy. I still get around 24 MPG while hauling a load of 1000 lbs. on the hwy. Im very satisfied with my purchase and wouldnt think twice about buying another Tundra. Toyota, thanks for producing a reliable product thats worth my hard earned money.

The limited visibility to the rear, through the drivers window, makes it impossible to tell if someone is in the side view mirrors blind spot when you are trying to shift lanes to the left.

  • Great truck - poor front seat - 2004 Toyota Tundra

This is my second Tundra. My 2001, with ABS, skidded on a wet curve when I braked, and was totaled (I was hit by a Camry doing 50 - 60 mph and walked home!) This time I got the Vehicle Stability Control package, along with the Double Cab. I just love this vehicle (and Im almost 60). I get 17.5 miles to a gallon in mixed city/freeway driving, but I drive sensibly - gas is $2.20 a gal. The drivers seat seems worse than the 01, though. The initial shifting also appears jerkier.

What a great truck. Unless you are towing a house, I dont see how anyone could find a better truck. How many of us are going to tow more than 7,000lbs? Just test drive the others.

My Tundra has been very relaible. I use it mainly as a regular transportation vehicle. It is very rugged and capable of towing and hauling heavy loads. The interior is comfortable and well appointed. I think it is one of the best and most relaible trucks.

I used to be a Ford truck owner,(until I tried to trade it in) finally made a good choice in trucks this time. The Tundra is fun to drive and pulls my boat with no problems. The Tundra has great pick up(V8) its comfortable and the best thing is it holds its value, unlike the Ford!

I love my truck. We have used it for everything - family car to trailer puller. It has done great at everything and holds it value. I will continue to trade my other car, but I will not get rid of my Tundra. I was afraid of imports, but it may be the only way to go. The quality and the little things are so good.

  • Its no Chevy... - 2004 Toyota Tundra

Ive been a Chevy owner for the past five years...The Tundra is good for people who arent particular about space...I think the Chevy has more leg room...The Tundra is faster off the line than the Chevy, but I dont think Ill buy another Toyota...Not to mention the gas mileage is worse than in my Avalanche...and my Avalanche was 4WD, and my Tundra isnt...oh well, if you know anybody who wants to buy a Limited Tundra, Ill be selling my by January 04...

  • From Landcruiser to Dual cab Tundra - 2004 Toyota Tundra

One of the reasons I bought this truck was for the Landcruiser like ride and interior. After buying this truck my Landcruiser just sat in the garage. It has excellent power, handling and ride.
