Fun to drive, very comfortable and roomy. Suspension is soft as easy to drive. Very little plastic inside on dash and around doors, prevents a lot of sqeeking and fading.

I have had the truck for a month and have put about 2400 miles on it. I chose the 4.0 and 6 speed manual. I picked the TRD Off Road 4X4 so I could get the following options I wanted. The 110 volt plug in the back is sweet, but should run off of a seperate battery, allowing the truck to be turned off while using it. The BF Goodrich tires were a requirement. Wanted the rear locker, although I am a bit disappointed (in the sand anyway). Still needed 4x4 to get around. Driving lights were also a desired extra. They add considerably in deer country. The truck overall is everything I wanted. Love the ride, manuverability and everything else aside from the lack of a 6th seat. Recommend.

Traded my 04 tacoma in for this bad boy. Totally redesigned for 05. Interior is luxurious, and huge. Exterior is a real head turner. Love the longer bed, looks great with the toyota aluminum tool box. 4.0 litre is a breath of fresh air, compared to the gutless 3.3 litre from last year. Ive only driven it a few hundred miles, but cant find a negative thing to say about it

  • A great mid-size - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Comfortable, handles great, and tows the 20 boat without a bobble. Mileage so far runs about 18 around town and 20+ on highway, and it does it on regular gas. No problems with knocking or missing using the lower octane, although the manual says for optimum performance use hi-test. The 5-spd auto shifts smoothly and quickly. The performance of the V6 is outstanding, if just a bit noisy. Motor Trend gave it their Truck Of The Year Award, and its well deserved.

  • Great Ride - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Truck drives like a car and v-6 gets on it like a v-8. The only thing I see is that the passenger shoulder belt makes noise as it hits the side of the door when not in use and you hit a bump or on a bumpy road. You have to take the head rest off the rear seats to fold down but thats only a lazy thing. Besides that, it was well worth giving my 93 Toy truck to my son and getting this 2005 Tacoma. By far the best and most fun vehicle Ive ever had.

  • Great Combination - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

So far a great truck. It drives great, fits in my garage, rides smooth and stable and has good high visibility, good bed size w/ decent hauling ability. I started with the larger engine but after being stuck with unwanted options, I tried the 4cl. The acceleration is not great but neither was the 6cl. w/ auto. The smaller engine w/ 5 speed gives me more than adequate power for highway merges, etc. The smaller engine also gets very respectable mileage (about 21 mpg overall) although I do a lot of highway / rural driving. The SR5 with alloys was a real complete package for me. 2 kids (9 and 7) fit in the rear seats with decent leg room but the srtaight backs would get old on a long ride.

  • You had me at Taco... - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

I picked up my Tacoma yesterday morning. I bought it with 42k miles/1-owner for $21k. It is a blast to drive! This thing climbs hills. In 6th gear @ 50 mph. There is enough power throughout the power band. Shifting is smooth once you get use to the clutch which feels as light as a cars clutch. If you are looking to fill a semi-sports car void without loosing the utility of a truck and have room for the family, test drive a Tacoma. The reliability of a Toyota is undeniable. I plan on taking this truck to 220k.

The truck has been perfect since I bought it. I went from a Dodge Dakota getting 8 to 9 mpg in the city to getting about 17 on the Tacoma with just as much if not more power than the Dakotas v8.
