  • road noise - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

The door gaskets are terrible, the road noise is very loud-the faster you go more volume is needed on the CD or radio, also to much dirt, dust and road salt collect inside dr. jams. The paint chips very easily every where - it looks very thin. The seats feel like your sitting on layers of cardboard. Quality control experts should be fired for putting one of the most under rated and cheapest dunlap tires on this truck or any truck.

I cant believe how dissappointed I am with Toyota with this truck. I have never felt the need to post anything on any web site, but have done so on both the 05 Taco board and here tonight. This truck is not toyota quality. It is noisy and unrefined. Do not accept mediocrity. The engine noise is dreadful, the wind noise is not good. Drive a Tundra or a 4R and you will see what I mean. The ride is very pleasant from a suspension standpoint. The interior and stereo are excellent. I would bet this truck undergoes some changes (more sound buffering, better options), so do not buy this edition unless you have to.

  • Owned them all and by far this is #1 - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

I speak from experience. Owned 86 SR5 22RET 4x4 (300K+), 91 SR5 4x4 (200K+), 96 T100 4x4, 96 4runner Limited, 95 Tacoma 4x4 (75K), 96 Tacoma 4x4 (75K). 99 Toy 4x4 Ext Cab (100K) As you can see I spent many a miles behind the wheel of a Toyota truck. Bought my 2005 to tow a 22 boat. Already after year and half put 30K miles on it. By far the best looking all around driveable Toyota truck I have ever owned. Towing and overall drivability is above all others. Long-distance HWY trips are now a dream. Reliability is always A+. The only thing I have to do with this truck is change the oil and air filter. See below for my few negative comments.

  • Great truck - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

I put a tool box on the truck but that make very bad road noise. The 6 cyl. will move the truck faster than the Chevrolet Z71 with the small V8 and the milage is somewhat better.

  • Fun truck - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Its a fun and cool truck. The design alone is a big step forword that brings out the true meaning of a fun truck.

  • Come a long way - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

I think this is a good truck and a great start for improvements

  • Clunk Clunk Clunk Clunk - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

I purchased my 05 Tacoma 4 Dr Long Box eight days ago. Since then it has been in the shop 4 of those days. It has a knocking/clunking/rattling coming from the right dashboard/fender area every time I hit a bump. The noise decreases about 90% with someone in the passenger seat. It increases when making a right turn. The 2 dealers that have looked at it have no idea where it is coming from and say Toyota does not have a "fix" for the problem. I love everything else about it. It handles like a dream, the ride is very comfortable, it has plenty of power and the 4 door long box is perfect for all your needs. LETS HOPE TOYOTA FIGURES OUT WHAT IS WRONG & COMES UP WITH A SOLUTION!!

  • Off to a nice start! - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

At 5-10 grand less than similarly equipped "Big" trucks, it is truly a great value. Ride is firm but comfortable, handling is tight and the interior noise level is low. I will post again as time goes on.

  • Fine vehicle - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

25,000... no problems, but did not have towing electrical harness as described in manual, had to purchase for 90 dollars and was difficult to install at fuse box. Towed 3,500 gross lb trailer loaded to max 800 miles no problems. Plenty of power, handles great and is comfortable. Compared to my 2002, greatly improved is a/c and handling/ride. Alarm is not too sensitive as in 2002. Size is nice midsize, has all I need and works well. A little wind noise, but overall is quiet. Its a keeper.

  • THIS IS ONE THE BEST SPORT TRUCKS!!! - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

One word sums it up the best...AWSOME! The powertrain...to the handling...build quaulity is just superior to any other trucks out there. I used to be a Nissan truck guy (a very devoted Nissan fan in fact) so dont think that Im a salesman for Toyota and gloating the X Runner. This is a Good SOLID sport truck and I would recomend it to anyone who want an alternative to the SRT10 Ram.
