  Wait for the 2006.......... - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

  My car has 1800 miles and is 3 months old, I have taken the car to the dealer over 20 times. Problem consist of leaking, gear, rear brake and suspention noise. The vehicle I recieved had a defective seat, Shaft, seams behind the dash and even noise from the ignition when the car doesnt start. I would advise any person interested in this car to wait for the 2006 when they fix all the problems in this model. Toyota customer service dont put in the effort anymore thay just dont care, I have been treated very badly by both the dealer (who is 100% loyal to Toyota) and Toyota Corp. The dealers still dont know how to repair this car nor do Toyota. I had this car at the dealer for over 20days out

  Good truck - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

  Bought used in 2008, have literally driven it across the country. (Truck has about 110k miles on it now) Avgs 16-25 mpg. Took it tailgating in the southeast with 4 adults and gear and got 25 mpg on highway in "mountainous" terrain of western NC and SC. The truck has been worry free over about 15k miles. The power from the V6 has been more than adequate with hauling rocks, dirt and plants/trees for homeowner "fun" and around town. I havent towed with it. 60# dog fits in back of cab nicely as the seats fold flat and have a robust back. The cubbyholes behind and under the rear seats were borderline genius (they have become more common now, I think). The power outlet in truck bed is handy.

  Good looking truck not cost effective - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

  Exterior design makes it a good looking truck. I was complimented several times on its design. Fun to drive on weekends but looks are deceiving. It claims 18/22 but it was more like 16/20 with the 4x4 TRD. The bilstein shocks made for a hard drive. Clutch pedal replaced with only 9000 miles after making squeaking sounds. Extended cab rather cramped for adults but adequate for children. Expensive to maintain especially with the suggested 3000 miles oil change along with dealers "suggested" preventative repairs.

  This is a fine truck. But the 5 spd. automatic transmission needs reprogramming. You get to 5th gear too fast. Then, theres no pickup when you need it. The cruise control downshifts two gears to regain the targeted speed, putting the tach at redline. This needs reprogramming also. Other than that, I really like the truck. The size is good. The orange dashboard indicators are hard to read during the day, especially the clock and temperature. Bright white would be better

  TO GET IT PERFECT - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

  At the time this little beauty was unmatched in the market place. Probably still is. However, to make it perfect, for guys who are not small, the seat could be larger for better leg support, the noise level, was really noticable from my Sport Trac and the suspension bottoms out way to often over large bumps that can occur on our nations rail track crossings.

  Somewhat Disappointed - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

  Despite the rave reviews, I was disappointed in the new 05 Tacoma. Have had Toyota trucks sine 1985 and there things to really like about this 05 version, but, they missed the mark in a few areas. My same major complaints about the 02 Tacoma still exist - mainly way too much engine noise in the cab. For some reason, Toyota stopped insulating under the hood and it makes a big difference. My 92 Toyota 4x4 was quieter than anything made since including the 05. On the plus side, maintenance of this truck is super simple. No more oil change hassling. The oil filter now sits on top of the engine within very easy reach and the oil drain plug is a snap to access w/o the need to remove anything else.

  This is my third Toyota pickup: 94 Hilux; 03 Tacoma; 05 Tacoma. My dealer is driving the 94 Hilux, a guy in town has my 03, and I am happy with my 05 Tacoma. These trucks never quit! I installed an aftermarket moon roof and the Dee Zees to offset the looks. Truck has good starting, no hesitation in acceleration, and offers a very smooth ride (I have the long bed double cab which has plenty of room).
