Overview & Reviews
The Toyota Sienna receives more standard equipment for 2006. Most importantly, the formerly optional front side-impact airbags and three-row head-protecting side curtain airbags are standard on all Siennas this year. Other changes include new seat fabric for the CE and LE trims and Optitron gauges for LE, XLE and XLE Limited models. The XLE also has dual power front seats this year, and the XLE Limited gains driver-seat memory. There's also a new power-folding rear seat option on XLE Limited 2WD models. In addition, all Siennas receive a new grille, headlamps, foglamps and taillamp clusters. Finally, revised SAE testing procedures have dropped the van's stated horsepower rating from 230 to 215.
- Smooth ride, refined V6, packed with safety and convenience features, seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations, above-average fuel economy, available all-wheel drive.
- A bit too much lean in the corners, seat comfort and noise isolation could be better, expensive option packages.

Awesome Vehicle, great family fun - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By Irobbig - October 7 - 1:53 pmI had a 98 ford Windstar and man did I have a great surprise! This car is awesome, versatile and capable. The stereo is excellent, ride is like a car and best of all, I paid less for the Sienna than what I paid in 1998! Bought it before the summer vacation, put on a hitch and airbags in the suspension. Towed small trailer for 2000 miles to date and it works great, 6 adults, no problem, lots of gear, no problem. This is the most silent car Ive driven so far, beats the euro cars hands down. My only complaint is that I could not get the electric 8 way chair and I am 64" so the driving position is OK, not great, but that is the only thing I can complain about!

No big issues - but wont buy again - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By Boston Driver - September 27 - 12:36 amBought this car for my wife who swore she would never want a minivan. She likes the car, but Im not crazy about it. Mileage averages 19 .. i never expected 30, but 23-24 seemed reasonable. The engine seems underpowered or else the transmission is just plain shifting at the wrong times (i shouldnt have to floor it to maintain 70 mph on a minor incline). Otherwise just plain feels like Im driving a couch

DO NOT BUY - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By skier - September 26 - 6:26 pmThis is the worst vehicle i have ever owned. My wife really wanted it so we leased one for three years. Thank goodness I did not buy it. I cant wait to turn it in. The Run flat tires left me and my family (young kids) stranded. Had a blowout in the runflat you could stick a baseball through. I dont think that is to safe. The transmission does not shift smoothly and the dealer keeps saying it works properly. The gas mileage in terrible. 17.5 mpg is the average that we get for combined driving. We did get 18.1 on a 1000 mile all interstate drive this summer. Do not buy this junk.

Buy the Extended Warranty - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By Bill_in_CO - September 21 - 1:50 pmWe bought our Sienna new in 2006 and have driven 48,000 miles. The vehicle has been back to the shop 7 times and repairs are now costing us staggering sums of money. If you like this vehicle, be sure to get the extended warranty. The drivers side automatic sliding door just broke and cost $1800 to fix. The dealer said this is a common problem. The rear hatch wont close on its own and the dealer cant fix it. After 10k miles and 35k miles, we had to have both sliding doors fixed as loose parts were rattling loudly. The run-flat tires are terrible. They wear out at 15k miles and cost $1000 to replace. The vehicle doesnt come with a spare tire.

Fantastic gas mileage - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By New Mexico - September 17 - 1:56 pmWe drive in New Mexico and get about 25.5 mpg going back and forth to work. On the highway at 75 mph we get anywhere from 27 to 31 mpg! The seats in this van are almost as comfortable as the ones in our old Mercury Villager but not quite. This is our travel car and we drive all over New Mexico, very fuel efficient and comfy.

Solid Minivan - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By Erynex - September 3 - 6:40 pmGets good mileage and has a very smooth and quiet ride. We were able to purchase a 100,000k mile Toyota extended warranty online for a very reasonable price. The dealership has been very helpful, even after the sale. We ordered it with many extras and were able to negotiate a good price. This is my second Toyota and probably not my last.

Great van - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By Bill - August 18 - 2:53 amWe bought the Sienna to replace a 1998 Caravan. Looked at the Odyssey too but my wife like the drive and feel of the Sienna better. The price was a little bit lower too. We are very happy with this van. The kids love it! I highly recommend it.

Excellent ride fully loaded - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By Dale Kelly - August 13 - 4:26 pmExcellent ride when fully loaded with 7 adults. Instruments easy to read. Great headlights. Well designed interior with lots of storage. Drove the Honda but much quieter ride in the Sienna.

Fun to drive - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By DGJ - June 3 - 7:03 amWe bought the Toyota Sienna after we compared it side by side to a Honda Odyssey. Basically, we like the ride of the Sienna more. It feels like a car, we thought the Honda rode like a truck. It is spacious, comfortable - even on the third row and has all the features that Honda has but more options for the same money. I would highly recommend the Sienna.

Transmission Leak - 2006 Toyota Sienna
By David Yee - June 2 - 2:30 amMy Sienna has less than 4000 miles and my transmission is already leaking. Its been in the shop for about a week and I guess its taking awhile to dismantle everything and then put it together again. Aside from this defect, the van seems to be pretty good. Its quite roomy to the point that I have difficulty getting out of my tight garage. I really like the turning radius on this van. Ive been getting about 15 miles/gallon on city driving with 4-5 passengers.
